dc.description.abstractil ABSTRACT Consequence of past growing knowledge and technology in this century a substantial increase in the competitiveness of the n$klonal and international market caused university and industry work together. As a result, several forms of relationship were developed. Among these technopark concepts has emerged as a form of university-industry interaction in developed countries. The main objective of technoparks is to help commercialization of the results of research and development activities through technology based small enterprices. In relation to that, the purpose of this study is to determine how the university-industy relationship and technopark can be realized effectively in Turkey. The data for this study were collected from the industry administrators about AR-GE and university administrators by means of questionnaire. I Responses from total population of 513 administrators included 368 (71 percent) from university administrators, M5 ( 29 percent) from industry administrators; a total of 365 were used. The major findings of this study are as follows: I. Problems 1. The infrastructure of the universities are inefficent. 2. Necessary financing for relationship is inefficient and unsufficient..3. There is a comminication gap between university and industry. 4. University faculty numbers have inadequate industrial experience. 5. Organization for relation is unsufficient and there are bureaucratic obstacles. j^ j/IUvv*'m II. Political Issues 1. There was no significant diffirences about the policy relationship among university administrators on the basis of their administrative duty, academic statutes and the university they work. 2. On the other hand, there was a significant diffirence between university staff and industry administrators on the relationship policy. III. Technopark Issues l.The government should act as a leader to establish technopark by means of either TÜBİTAK or relevant Ministry of State agencies. 2. Technoparks be established as a company. 3. It should be named as Technology Development Center instead of Technopark. 4. The administration of technoparks should be autonomous. 5. Administrators should have both university and industry as well as some sort of administration experiences. 6. Technoparks should be established at the regions where developed industry and university are located. 7. Government, enterpreneurs and chambers of industry should support the financing of technoparks. 8. Above all, it was found that technoparks were seen as a meeting place of university and industry, entegrating science and technology, for trading the product.en_US
