T The chemical composition of the essential oil of Chenopodium botrys L. (Chenopodiaceae) which has been used in folk medicine were analyzed by GC, GC-MS, ^-NMR and 13C-NMR The total of 40 components in hydrodistillation were dedected and 35 components were fully identified. The major component characterized in the essential oils was Elemol (54,96 %) and other main components were determined as hedycaryol (30,80 %), /*-myrcene (4,73 %), /belemene (2,19 %) and (Z)-valerenyl acetate(2,09 %). Essential oil of the aerial parts of the plant obtained by hydrodistillation were investigated for antimicrobial activities on 2 bacterias and a yeast which are Bacillus cereus RSKK 863 Gr (+), Pseudomonas aerigonosa ATCC Gr (-) 27853 and a yeast which is Candida albicans ATCC 10239. The activities were not increased depend on the amount of essential oil and the volatile oil showed biological activity to Gr (-) much greater than Gr (+) bacteria and yeast.en_US
