Thesis) Emrah GİZÎRO?LU MUGLA UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE of SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY 2004 ABSTRACT In this study, two new ligand were synthesized by the reaction of Bishydrothioylidene Barbituric acid amonium and Bishydrothioylidene 1,3 Dimethyl Barbituric acid amonium that derivatives of Barbituric acid and 1,3 Dimethyl Barbituric acid, with anti-Dichloroglyoxime, and some transition metal complexes of these ligands were isolated. Firstly, anti- Dichloroglyoxime, Bishydrothioylidene Barbituric acid amonium and Bishydrothioylidene 1,3 Dimethyl Barbituric acid amonium were synthesized according to previously reported literatures. Then the reactions between anti- Dichloroglyoxime with Bishydrothioylidene Barbituric acid amonium and Bishydrothioylidene 1,3 Dimethyl Barbituric acid amonium furnished novel vic- dioxime derivatives barbituric acid. Finally the trinukleer complexes of these ligand with Ni(H) and Cu(II) chlorur salts were isolated. The trinukleer complexes are 2:3 metal : ligand ration. The structures of both ligands and complexes were characterized by Elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, 'H-NMR spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. vnKey Words: vic-Dioxime, Barbituric acid, 1,3 Dimethyl Barbituric acid, Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal complexes, trinukleer complex Page Number: 63 Adviser: M.
