Bu okullarda yabancı dil öğreniminde başarı seviyesini düşüren birbirinden farklı bir çok etmenin olduğu bir gerçektir. Bu faktörler öğrencilerin başarısızlığına neden olabilir. Bu çalışma, bazı öğrencilerin yabancı dil öğrenmeyi neden başaramadığını ve başarısızlıklarındaki en önemli etmenleri bulmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma başarısızlık adı altında üç etmeni içermektedir. Çalışmada yabancı dil öğrenirken öğrencinin kendisinden, okul ile çevresinden ve ailesinden kaynaklanan etmenler incelenmektedir. Bu amaçla bir anket hazırlanarak yabancı dil öğrenimiyle ilgili görüş ve tutumlarını saptamak üzere Gaziantep özel Sunguroğlu Erkek Lisesi ve Cumhuriyet Lisesi öğrencilerine uygulanmıştır. Prof. Dr. Erdal CEYHAN August, 1996, 73 pages This thesis aims at analyzing the factors causing student failure in foreign language learning at özel Sunguroğlu Erkek Lisesi and Cumhuriyet Lisesi in Gaziantep. It is true that there are a number of different factors decreasing the level of success in learning a foreign language at these schools. These factors may cause students* failure. The purpose of this study is to provide answers to the question why some students fail in learning a foreign language and also to find the most important factors causing students' failure according to the findings. This study includes mainly three factors under the heading of failure. Factors related to the student himself, factors related to school and environment, and factors related to the family are the topics treated in this thesis.For this reason, a questionnaire was prepared and given to the students of özel Sunguroğlu Erkek Lisesi and Cumhuriyet Lisesi to get their opinions about some aspects of the language learning process in their schools. Findings of the study are illustrated in the tables in terms of frequencies and percentages and their meaningfulnesses are tested by chi-square method. Science Code : ELT 599 m
