Ataerkillik ve toplumsal baskı: Gaziantep`te dul kadın olmak

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Gaziantep'te yaşayan eşinden boşanarak veya eşinin vefatıyla dulkalan kadınların deneyimlerini toplumsal cinsiyet perspektifinden incelemektedir.Çalışmanın temel argümanı, ataerkil toplumlarda kadınların özellikle dul kaldıktansonra yoğun baskı altında tutularak birçok yeni sorunla karşı karşıya kaldıklarıdır.`Dul kadın` imgesinin olumsuz olarak resmedilmesi nedeniyle yanında bir erkekolmadan yaşayan kadın dışlanıp, ayrı bir cinsiyet kategorisinde ele alınmaktadır. Erilanlayışın hâkim olduğu bir düzende kadın olmanın zorluklarına, dulluk eklenincekadın olmanın daha güç olduğu görülmektedir. Bu güçlüklerin neler olduğunubelirlemek adına, Gaziantep'te yaşayan 10'nu eşinden boşanmış, 7'sinin ise eşiölmüş toplamda 17 dul kadın ile derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Bu kadınlarınevlilikte, boşanmada ve ağırlıklı olarak da dul kaldıktan sonra neler yaşadıklarınıbelirlemek adına sorular sorulmuştur. Yapılan değerlendirmeler sonucundaevlilikteki eşitsiz toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ile başlayan sorunlar, evliliği herhangi birsebeple biten kadınlar için daha farklı problemler getirmektedir. Ekonomik sorunlar,dışlanma, etiketlenme, artan toplumsal baskı, tek ebeveyn olma, psikolojik sorunlargibi yaşam zorlukları kadınların dulluğunun sonucu olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Ataerkillik, Patriyarka, Aile, Evlilik, Boşanma, Dulluk,Toplumsal Baskısı

This thesis investigates the experiences of women who become widows eitherdivorcing or after losing their husbands from the perspective of gender. Thefundamental argument of the thesis is that women face new problems under thepressure of patriarchal societies after they become widows. A woman living withouta husband is cast out and categorized into a new gender due to the negativelyportrayed image of `widow` in society. When the challanges of being a widowwoman adds up to the the challenges of being a woman in a patriarchal society, itbecomes harder to be a women in that society. To determine the challenges, in-depthinterviews were conducted with 10 divorced women and 7 women whose husbandspassed away, total 17 widow women living in Gaziantep. The questions asked in theinterviews were to investigate the experiences of women during their marriage, in theevent of divorce and, predominantly, after divorce. In the light of evaluations, theproblems started because of the inequality of gender roles in marriages bringadditional problems for women if their marriages ended due to any reason.Increasing life problems like economical problems, social exclusion, stigmatization,growing social pressure, being a single mother, pyschological issues is the result ofwidowhood.Keywords: Partriarchy, Family, Marriage, Divorce, Widowhood, Social Pressure
