ABSTRACTTHE HUMAN ELEMENT IN IBN-I KEMAL DIVANCELIK, GULDERENMaster-2005The Department Of Old Turkish LiteratureMentor Official: Ass. Prof. Dr. Hanefi YONTARThis study has been carried out in order to identify which similes are used andto understand how characters are described in Ibn-i Kemal Divan, one of the preciousworks in Divan verse.A card index has been made for 377 poems in this work. The couplets in thiscard index are classified in accordance with the intention and main sections areformed. The sub-titles of main sections are designated and in what way charactersare described is determined by the analysis method.In Ibn-i Kemal Divan, totally 26 characters including a beloved, a lover, anopposite, eight prophets, a craftsman, a sage, a philosopher, seven legendary heroesand five tale heroes are mentioned. Stories and miracles about these characters aretold and the features of these characters are repeated. Characters in Ibn-i KemalDivan described in accordance with the tradition of divan verse.
