We aimed to investigate angiotensinogen M235T, angiotensinogen T174M and angiotensin type 1 receptor A1166C gene polymorphisms on the development of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in this study. This study included 101 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with diabetic nephropathy patients (patient group) and 100 type 2 diabetes mellitus with out of Diabetic Nephropathy (control group). Angiotensinogen M235T / T174M and Angiotensin Type 1 Receptor A1166C gene polymorphisms were identified using polymerase chain reaction and followed by restriction fragment length polymorphism methods. The results showed no significant difference between AGT M235T / T174M ve AT1R A1166C gene polymorphisms with patient-control group. But although; hypertension, smoking, consumption of alcohol, use of insulin and family DM history may be negative risk factors for the disease.en_US
