In our trial we investigated the effects of rosuvastatin on the anti-inflammatory process macroscopically, microscopically and biochemically within rats that were made experimental colitis with asetic acid.Forty Wistar albino female rats were separated into four groups of ten in number. First group was named as control group, second group of rats that were developed colitis but not treated, rats in the third group were the ones that were treated with rosuvastatin simultaneous with colitis formation and the rats in the fourth group was the ones that were started rosuvastatin treatment after twenty four hours of colitis formation.Macroscopically there was no statistical differenece between the colitis formed groups (p>0.05).Microscopically there were no statistical differenece between all the groups (p>0.05).glutathione levels were significantle decreased in the ill control group (group 2).In the group 4 that colitis were formed and than treated with rosuvastatin, there were statistically important increase at the glutathione levels (p<0.05). In the control group with colitis (group 2) malondialdehyde levels were increased significantly and in the group 4 that colitis were formed and than treated with rosuvastatin,66malondialdehyde levels were significantly decreased and this decrease was statistically important (p<0.05).Consequently we consider rosuvastatin as a supportive therapy in ulcerative colitis treatment for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.Key words: Ulcerative colitis, rosuvastatin, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatoryen_US
