dc.description.abstract-17* SUMMARY The effects of nitrogen doses on the yield and the total alkaloid content of Datura stramonium and Datura metel were investigated under the Nevşehir environmental conditions» The experiments were conducted at Hevşehir* Each plant species were tested in randomized block design. Four doses of nitrogen were applied (0, 6, 8, IS kg/da) and two varieties of Datura has been used. The plants were harvested at full bloom. 1-Green leaf Yields: The green leaf yields of D. stramonium was highest 871 kg/da were obtained with 18 kg/da nitrogen doses applications The yields of D. metel was highest 1063 kg/da were obtained with the same nitrogen doses applications. Green leaf yields ;fwere found with 8 kg/da nitrogen doses applications,718. 5 2 kg/da with D. stramonium and 920 kg/da with D. metel. 2-Drug leaf yields? The highest drug leaf yields were found with 18 kg/da nitrogen doses applications, 238.1 kg/da with D. metel and 182.8 kg/da with D. stramonium. 3-Drug leaf rates: The highest drug leaf rate were found with 6 kg/da nitrogen doses applications, 23*7 SS with D. stramonium and 22.1 # with Da metel. 4-Total Alkaloid Contents: a) In the leaves: Alkaloid contents were increased with nitrogen applications in D. stramonium, but nitrogen applications didn't have any effect on alkaloid contents in D. metel. The alkaloid content in D. metel was highest 0.167 ^alkaloid were obtained with 0 kg/da nitrogen applications» The alkaloid content in D. stramonium was highest 0.230 % alkaloid were obtained with 8 kg/da nitrogen applications.en_US
