We aimed to analyze the genotypes and allele distributions of SLC6A4 promoter L/S polymorphism in volleyball players. 21 volleyball players participated in our study. Genotyping was performed by PCR after the isolation DNA from the epithelial cells after. The genotypes of LL, LS and SS were determined as 10 (48%), 7 (33%) and 4 (19%) respectively. L and S allel numbers were 27 (64%) and 15 (36%), respectively. Recent studies have shown that the `S` allele is less identified and more associated with anxiety. Differences in SLC6A4 alleles have been reported in relation to neuropsychiatric disorders compared to different nations. This is the first report showing that LL genotype and L allele in volleyball players are more frequent than SS genotype and S allele.Anahtar Kelimeler: genetik, spor genetiği, SLC6A4, serotonin, voleybolen_US
