Y Orthodontists have the chance to use the several possibilities of dental technology and give their patients the best service, using minimal amount of time. Straight-wire bracket application using the direct bonding technique will give the patient minimum irritation, and the clinician maximum confort and ease. İn the present study we tried to determine several adhesives characteristics and their application in-vivo and in-vitro. t Straight wire brackets manufactured by Dentaurum were bonded to the teeth using C, S, RO and SC adhesives. During our in-vitro study 160 maxillary premolars were bonded with the mentioned adhesives. The teeth were embedded in acrylic and shear and tensile tests were performed at two intervals. During the second interval the teeth were thermocycled. According to the statistical tests of the in- vitro results there was no significant difference between the adhesives. Our in-vivo study was performed on 20 patients divided in to 4 groups, who were followed for 12 months. According to the in-vitro results, the failure of the brackets increases from the anterior region of the jaws to the posterior. The failure rates of the 4 adhesives were similar. Upon the visual and microscobic examination of the tooth-bracket- adhesive bonding, the higgest amount of bond-failure occured between the bracket and the adhesive. For optimum bracket bonding and satisfactory results, all the necessary procedures should be followed by the cilinician.-56- İn-vitro olarak yapışma kuvvetinin saptanması için; gerekli standar dize bir test metodunun bulunmayışı sonuçların karşılaştırılmasında, klinis- yeni bazen kararsızlığa iteb ilmektedir.
