Materyal destekli matematik öğretiminin ortaokul 6. sınıf öğrenci başarısına, tutumuna, kaygısına ve öğrenmenin kalıcılığına etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, materyal destekli matematik öğretiminin ortaokul 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin başarılarına, tutumlarına, kaygılarına olan etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada, yapılan uygulamaların öğrencilerin başarı seviyesine, başarılarının kalıcılık düzeyine etkisi ve öğrencilerin tutum ve kaygı durumlarına olan etkisi incelenmiştir.Yarı deneysel türde olan bu çalışma 2013-2014 eğitim öğretim yılı Elazığ ili merkeze bağlı bir köy ortaokulu olan Kuyulu ortaokulunda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma grubunu bu okulda öğrenim gören 60 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Ayrıca kümeler başarı testinin pilot çalışmaları için seçilen çalışma grubunu ise Elazığ ilindeki iki ortaokulda öğrenim gören 7. sınıfta olan 158 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada kümeler konusu kazanımlara uygun olarak deney grubunda geliştirilen materyaller ve çalışma yaprakları kullanılarak, kontrol grubunda ise normal öğretim ile işlenmiştir.Çalışmaya başlamadan önce gruplara uygulanan kümeler başarı testi, matematik tutum ölçeği, matematik kaygı ölçeği çalışma sonunda tekrar uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca çalışmanın bitiminden sekiz hafta sonra başarının kalıcılık düzeyine etkisini incelemek amacıyla kümeler başarı testi tekrar uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin materyaller ve hazırlanan çalışma yaprakları ile desteklenmiş öğretime ilişkin görüşlerine ulaşmak amacıyla uzman görüşüne başvurularak hazırlanmış olan öğrenci görüş formu kullanılarak öğrencilerin görüşlerine ulaşılmıştır. Verilerin analiz edilmesi ile elde edilen sonuçlarda, yapılan uygulamalar sonunda deney ve kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin ön test ve son test puanları arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuş her iki grubunda başarılarında artış görülmüştür. Ancak gruplar karşılaştırıldığında deney grubundaki öğrenmelerin kontrol grubundaki öğrenmelere oranla anlamlı derecede daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca materyallerle işlenen derslerin hatırlamayı daha olumlu yönde etkilediği ortaya çıkmıştır. Grupların son test tutum puanları karşılaştırıldığında deney grubu lehine anlamlı farklılık ortaya çıkmıştır. Yani kümeler konusunun materyal destekli olarak işlenmesi deney grubundaki öğrencilerin matematik tutumunu olumlu yönde etkilemiştir. Yapılan çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre deney grubunda bulunan öğrencilerin kaygı düzeylerinin azaldığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Çalışma Yaprağı, Kümeler, Matematik, Materyal Destekli Matematik Öğretimi, Somut Nesne.

The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of mathematics teaching supported by material on (secondary school) 6th success, attitudes and concerns. In the study, the effect of practices carried on the student success level, of achievements on permanence level and the situations of the students manner and concern .As an quasi- experimental type, this study is conducted in 2013-2014 educational year, in Elazığ, Kuyulu Secondary School. The study group is made of 60 students in this school. In addition, the study group selected for pilot study of set subject test is made of 158 students who are in the 7th grade, in the center of Elazığ. In the study, while the subject of set is taught by using worksheets and materials improved in accordance with acquirements in experimental group, it is taught with normal teaching in control group. Before starting study, all tests which are set success test, mathematics attitude scale, mathematics concern scale were performed again in the end of the study. Besides, eight weeks after finishing the study, the set success test has been fulfilled again with the aim of analyzing the influence of success on permanence level. Furthermore, the views of students have been obtained by using student feedback form which is prepared according to expert opinion so as to get the views of students about teaching based on worksheets and materials which are filled in by the students. In the results which are attained from analyzing the data, at the end of the practices carried, there have been considerable differences between pretest and posttest in the study and control group. It is seemed that there is an increase in success in both groups. However, when the groups are compared, it is made out that learning in experimental group is so much higher than learning in control group. Moreover, it is understood that lessons which are taught with materials affect remembering more positively. When the points of the posttest of both groups are compared, a meaningful difference is obtained in favor of the experimental group. Therefore, the set subject taught with materials affects mathematics attitudes of the students positively. According to the findings obtained from this study, it is concluded that the concern level of the students in experimental group has reduced.
