Nuruosmaniye complex

Abstract

NURUOSMANİYE KÜLLİYESİ Bu tezin konusunu bir onsekizinci yüzyıl külliyesi oluşturmaktadır. Tarihi perspektif adı altındaki ilk bölümde, Osmanlı mimarlığının Nuruosmaniye Külliyesi'nin inşaatına kadar olan gelişimi sosyal ve tarihi bir çerçeve içinde incelenmiştir. Onsekizinci yüzyılın, temelde imparatorluk bünyesinde büyük çaplı bozulma 5 batı uygarlıklarının tanınması ve gelişmeye yönelik bir dizi önlemlerin alınması gibi pek çok tarihi olayın bir arada gerçekleştiği bir dönem olması sebebiyle öne mi büyüktür» Bu nedenle, tarihi koşulların geniş ölçüde sanat ve mimarlık eserlerine yansıması bu bölümde tartışılmıştır. İkinci bölümde, onsekizinci yüzyıl Osmanlı mimarisinin en büyük ve en güçlü örneklerinden biri olan Nuruosmaniye Külliyesi, yapısal, tanımsal ve tarihi olmak üzere üç farklı açıdan incelenmiştir. İlk aşama olan yapısal analiz bölümünde, biçim, yapı ve konumunu ifade etmek üzere, Külliye'nin şimdiki halini ve tahmini asıl durumunu gösteren 1/200- ölçekte, iki tür vaziyet planı rölöve çizimleri yapılmıştır. ikinci aşamayı oluşturan tanımsal analiz bölümünde, Nuruosmaniye Külliyesi 'nin genel özelliklerini kavramak amacıyla, tek yapı ya da yapı gruplarının arkitektonik özellikleri, dış kütleleri ve iç mekanları tanımlanmıştır. Bu bölümde ayrıca, 1953-1969 yılları arasında yapılan restorasyon çalışmalarının listesi verilmiştir. Üçüncü aşamayı meydana getiren tarihi analiz bölümün de, Nuruosmaniye Külliyesinin inşaat faaliyetleri ve Külliye'nin mimarına ilişkin yormlar incelenmiştir.Son olarak değerlendirme bölümünde bu analizlere da yanılarak Külliye'nin Osmanlı mimarisi açısından değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır. İç mekan, dış kütle ve dekorasyonda görülen yeniliklerin tanıtılması bu bölümde yer almaktadır. Çalışına özetle, geleneksel Osmanlı mimarisi içinde yeni kavramların ve batılı biçimlerin yorumlanmasının ilk büyük ifadesi ve onaltıncı yüzyıl sonlarında Osmanlı mimarisinin klasik geleneğinde görülen manyerist gelişimin bir devamı olarak Nuruosmaniye Külliyesi'nin önemini vurgulamayı amaçlamıştır.

NURUOSMANİYE COMPLEX An eighteenth century building complex constitutes the subject of this thesis, As a first step a historical perspective is given in which the development of the Ottoman architecture until the construction of the Nuruosmaniye Complex is examined within the social and historical context. Since the eighteenth century is a very important era in which a number of historical events, basically the large scale degeneration of the Empire, the recognition of the Western Civilizations and measures which were taken towards progress occured at around the same time, the reflexions of these conditions on art and architecture are discussed particularly in this section. In the second part? the Nuruosmaniye Complex which is one of the greatest achievements of the eighteenth century Ottoman architecture is examined from three different aspects,, namely morphological, descriptive and historical analyses which are reflected in the structure of the study. Firstly,, in the morphological analysis section, two kinds of reconstruction drawings showing the assumed original and the present site plans in 1/200 scale are drawn in order to present the form and structure and also the location of the Nuruosmaniye Complex. Secondly, in the descriptive analysis section,, archi tectonic features of each building or group of units of the Complex are described and the external masses as well as the inner spaces are defined in order to appreciate the general characteristics of the Nuruosmaniye Complex. This section also comprises of the list of the restoration work which were done in between 1953-1969.VI 11 Thirdly., the building activities of the Nuruosmaniye Complex according to some documents and the attributions about the architect are examined in the historical analysis part. As the conclusion of the analyses, the signigficance of the Complex from the point of view of Ottoman architecture is evaluated. In this evaluation section the introduction of new concepts apparent in the internal spaces and in the external masses, and of novelties in the decoration of the Nuruosmaniye Complex are presented. The study therefore, aims at emphasising the importance of the Nuruosmaniye Complex as being the first greatest manifestation of the new concepts in the Ottoman art and of interpretation of the Western forms in the traditional structure of the Ottoman architecture as veil as being a continuation of the mannierist development of the classical tradition of the Ottoman architecture in the last decades of the sixteenth century.
