A Study on the effectiveness of mother training on mothers

Abstract

- VI ı - ÖZET Bu çalışma, istanbul- Zeyt inburnu' nda 1988 yılından beri uygulanmakta olan ` Anne - Çocuk Eğitimi Programı` nın anneler Üzerindeki etkilerini ölçmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma, programa katılan annelerin katılmayan annelere oranla farklılık göstereceği beklentisi Üzerine kurulmuştur. örneklem 75 anneden oluşmaktadır. Kırkbeş anne 2 yıl süreyle bu programa devam etmiştir. Karşı laşt ırma yapa bilmek amacıyla, programa katılmamış anneler arasından 30 anne sosyo-ekonomik statü, yaşadı.kları bölge ve ev tipi gözönünde bulundurularak eşleştirme (matching) yöntemiyle seçilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak Kag'ıtçıbaşı, Sunar ve Bekman (1988) tarafından geliştirilen `Anne Mülakat Formu` ve öner ve Torun (1989) tarafından geliştirilen `fiile Tutum Envanteri` kullanılmıştır. Veriler aritmetik ortalama, yüzde, ki-kare, varyans analizi ve t-test teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Programa katılan annelerin çocuklarıyla ilişkilerinde farklılık gösterdikleri, onlarla daha çok konuştukları,VI 1 ı - disiplinde cezalandırmadan çok neyin doğru olduğunu açıkladıkları görülmüştür. Bu annelerin çoğunluğu çocukların yanlış bir davranışına karşılık verirken onların niyetini gözönünde bulundurduklarını bel irtmişlerdir. ayrıca eşleriyle ilişkilerinin değiştiği, şimdiki durumlarıyla ilgili daha olumlu değerlendirmelerde bulundukları gözlenmiştir. Diğer taraftan araştırmada beklenmeyen bir veri olarak, programa katılan annelerin katılmayan annelere oranla, çocuklarının daha itaatkar, söz dinler olmalarını arzu ettikleri saptanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sınırlılığı iki noktada belirlenmiştirk; örnekleme ön-test uygulanmamıştır ve 2. Aile Tutum Envanteri ile ilgili veriler değerlendirilirken genel bir skor alınmıştır.

- V ABSTRACT The present study was an attempt to investigate the effectiveness of Mother Training Program on mothers which was carried out in istanbul, Zeytinburnu since 19BB. The study was planned to the expectation about mothers who attended to the training program which were expected to differ significantly from the mothers who were not attended. The sample consisted of 75 mothers. Forty five mothers attended to the training program for two years. For comparative purposes 30 mothers were chosen among mothers who were not attended to the program. Two groups were matched according to their respective socio - economic status, the area and the type of residence they lived in. The instruments of the study were the Interview Schedule which was constructed by Kağıtçı başı, Sunar and Bekman <19B8> and the Parent Attitude Scale which was constructed by öner and Torun (19B9). Means, percentages, chi-square, analysis of variance and t test techniques were applied for the analysis of the data.vı - The results indicated that the trained mothers differed significantly from the non-trained mothers in interacting more with their children, verbalising to them more using less punisment and more reasoning discipline. More of the trained mothers than the non-trained mothers stated that they took into consideration their child's intentions in responding to his / her misbehaviour. The analysis also indicated that the trained mothers were more likely to share decision making with their husbands and to have more positive evaluation of current situation. On the other hand, in contrast to the expectations, being obedient was the most desired behavior in children among the trained mothers more than the non-trained mothers. There are two major limitations of this study s 1. Pre test was not applied to the mothers and £. Only overall score of the Parent Attitude Scale was evaluated in the statiscal analysis.
