Optimal portfolio selection among mutual funds and special finance institutions funds

Abstract

ÖZET Özel Finans Kurumları ve Yatırım Fonları finans sektörümüzde yeni ve az bilinen yatırım araçlarıdır. Bu tezin amacı kamuyu yatırımcılara ve yöneticileri faizsiz bankacılık hakkında aydınlatmak yatırımcılara ve risk yöneticilerine imada bulunmaktır. ABSTRACT Special Finance Institutions and Mutual Funds are new and less known investment tools in our finance sector» The aim of this thesis is to illuminate the public» investors and executives about interest-free banking, to provide implications for the investors and risk managers. With this purpose the performance of Special Financial Institutions' funds are evaluated by comparing them with mutual funds' performance. Markowitz's Modern Portfolio Theory was applied in order to construct well diversified portfolios and to determine the efficient set.
