dc.description.abstract | SUMMARY Acuta diabetes- using 65?ng/kg Streptosotosin (STZ) u;as induced in 10 rats. Blood was obtained 48 hours after the induction of diabetes frorn experimental and control groups consisting of rats of the same ' generation and species. The following results mere obtained: 1- The blood glucose level anion urns 98,90 - 7,20 mg % before the induction of diabetes, was observed to increase to a level of 288,80 - 42,60 rag % in 48 hours. It us a s also noted that the blood glucose level started to increase 24 hours after STZ administration u/hereas a steady state of hyperglycemia uias achieved in the48 th and 72 nd hours of the drug administration, 2- The total lipid value usas 597,77 - 94,04 rag % before and was 1161,11 İ 229,50 mg % 48 hours after STZ' injection, 3- The cholesterol value, u/hich u/as 145,77 - 15,30 rng % before ST induction,, was found to increase toa level of 307,22 - 65,62 mg % in 48 hours, 4~Tps -triglyceride value, which urns 77,00 ~ 13,96 rag % before the injection of STZ sas found to increase to aievel of 324*00 - 103*40 mg ) 5-Ths.animals mere u;eighsd before and after the injection ofSTZ. Nc significant msight change cas observed between hyperglycemic and glyceric rats, 6- The leukocytes and peripheral blood sraears of rats with acute hyperglycemia mere examined. The tuhite blood cell count lahich «i(as 6718 - 807 before the injection of STZ, ît yas found to decrease to 5900 - 270 at the end of 48 hours. The' ratio of lymphocytes to the total number of u/hite blond cells uias found to be 79,00 ~ 10,00 % before the injection of STZ-56 8- FERRQ,R.V. ve KAM, A. 3»; Ferro and Kaa Direct Method. Amer. J.
