dc.description.abstract | 71 - SUMMARY V In this study» some antiseptic substances wit-h different chemical structures like; benzalkoaiua chloride. zinc suldtşate? phenylaercuricni trat e, hexachiorophene, ichthammol. methyiparaben, resorcia and rivaaol have been selected and their local effects on the skin with their diffusion properties have been investigated. The active substances have been formulated in bases of oily cr'eais and oily ointment; emulsion bases of oil in.water (oil/water) and water in oil (water /oil )., gels and glycerites types of fourteen formulas that are shown in Table. Diffusion of the test data have been investigated with in- vitro.agar-dif fusion method. which shows good correla tion with in.vivo results.. Ichitemmoi and Rivanol showed good diffusion in some of the bases. Ichtfcsmnsal when used directly and aqueous solutions, oily cream and ointment bases of water in oil, tragacantha gels, bases of glycerites showed good diffusion properties. When surface active agents are added to the formulas no better results have been observed. Rivanol; i.n aqueous solutions and in bases of PEG 4000 containing 10/% water; tragacantha gels and glycerites showed good diffusion properties.
