| dc.description.abstract | The pKa values of a sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine and sulfomerazine in 40, 50, 60%(v/v) MeOH - water binary mixtures at 25oC were determined by usingpotentiometric method according to the criteria endorsed by IUPAC. The PKPOTprogram and Gran plots were used for the evaluation of the data. The variation of thepKa values obtained over the whole composition range studied can be explained bytaking into account the preferential solvation of ionizable compounds in MeOH-water mixtures. Relationships obtained between pKa values with solvatochromicparameters of MeOH-water mixtures allowed calculation of the pKa values of thesecompounds in any MeOH-water mixtures.KEY WORDS: Methanol -water, Sulfonamides, pKa values, Preferential solvation | en_US |
