Abstract

ÖZET MİMARÎYE FİGÜRATİF BİR YAKLAŞIM - FORM ÜZERİNE BİR DENEME - Ç INICI, Can Yüksek Lisans Tezi, Mimarlık Bölümü Danışman: öğr. Gör. Selahattin önür Eylül 1988 Bu çalışma, mimarlıktaki 'figür' olgusu üzerine bir araştırmadır. Burada mimari figür, batıdaki form ve fonksiyon çıkmazının yok olduğu algısal bir unsur olarak sunulmaktadır. Figürler, Kütlesel, Uzamsal ve Yüzeysel figür grupları altında sınıflandırılmakta ve bütünsel mimari formdaki davranişları - Eklemleme, Birleştirme ve Temsil etme - olarak üç temel anlatım türüne bağlı olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bunun ötesinde figürler, mimarinin özünü yaratma sürecinde kullanılan en temel elemanlar olarak tanıtılmaktadır. Kompozisyonel ve Dekomposizyonel yöntemler ise figürsel bütünlük mantığına katkıda bulunan olası tavırlar olarak tartışılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak çalışma, mimari figürlerin alışılagelmiş komposizyonel yöntemlerin sınırlarını aştığı örnek bir proje ile sona ermektedir. ABSTRACT A FIGURATIVE APPROACH TO ARCHITECTURE - AN ESSAY ON FORM - ÇINÎCÎ, Can M. A. in Architecture Supervisor: Inst. Selahattin önür September 1988 This study is an investigation into the phenomena related with figures in architecture. Architectural figures are corporeally experienced aspects in which the futile dichotomy of form and function to be found in western sources disappears. Categorizing them as Mass, Space and Surface figures, their behavior in the architectural formal totality is examined according to three basic expressive modes - Articulation, Integration and Representation -. Moreover, figures are introduced as the most elementary materials at the architect's hands in creating the 'essence' of architecture. Proceeding with theoretical aspects, 'Compositional' and 'Decompositional' processes are discussed as the two possible manners contributing to the logic of figural coherence in a work. The study is followed by a case study project where figures are allowed to break the limits of classical ( compositional ) thinking.Key words: Architectural phenomenology, Form, Function, Composition, Decomposition, Deconstruct ion, Expression II
