Synthesis and spectroscopic investigations of some carbonyl-oletin-metal (O) complexes of group 6B elements

Komplekslerin yapıları İR- ve NMR- spektroskop i ler i yardımıyla incelendi. Komplekslerin spektroskopik verileri, penta- karboniltetrasiyanoetilenmetal(O) komplekslerinde olefin vıligandinin geçiş metaline C=C çift bagi ile bağlandığın, pentakarbonilfumaronitrilmetal(O) komplekslerinde ise olefin ligandinin azot üzerinden koordine olduğunu göstermektedir. Pentakarbonilakrilonitrilmetal (0) kompleksleri hekzakarbonilmetalin akrilonitril eşliğinde UV işmlamasıyla ancak çözeltide üretilebildi ve yalnızca çözeltiden alınan İR spektrumlari yardımiyla tanimlanabildi. ABSTRACT SYNTHESIS AND SPECTROSCOPIC INVESTIGATIONS OF SOME CARBONYL-OLEFIN-METAL(O) COMPLEXES OF GROUP 6B ELEMENTS IZZET a.mour Ph. D in Chemistry Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Saim Özkâr Coadvisor: Prof. Dr. Hüseyin İşçi February, 1992, 103 pages Pentacarbonyl-olef in-metal (O) complexes (metal: Cr, Mo, W; olefin: tetracyanoethylene, fumaronitrile, acrylonitrile) were synthesized photochemically by irradiating M(CO)6 with the olefin in toluene. Their structures were investigated by using IR- and NMR-spectroscopies. The spectroscopic data of the complexes (IR and NMR) showed that in the pentacarbonyltetracyano- IVethylenemetal(O) complexes the olefin ligand is bonded to the central atom through its carbon-carbon double bond while the pentacarbonylfumaronitrilemetal(O) complexes have the N-bonded olefin ligand. The pentacarbonylacrylo- nitrilemetal(O) complexes were generated in solution upon UV irradiation of hexacarbonylmetal(O) in the presence of acrylonitrile, and identified only by the solution IR spectra, as they could not be isolated from the solution.
