Kanserli hasta ve bakım verenlerinin algıladıkları sosyal destek ile umutsuzluk düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırma kanser hastası ve bakım verenlerinin algıladıkları sosyal destek ile umutsuzluk düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Kesitsel tipte bir araştırmadır. Araştırma; Aydın Atatürk Devlet Hastanesi kemoterapi ünitesine ve medikal onkoloji kliniğine ayaktan ve yatarak kemoterapi almak için Ocak 2017- Mayıs 2018 tarihleri arasında başvuran, dahil edilme kriterlerine uyan ve gönüllü olan 247 hasta ve bakım veren ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri hasta bilgi formu, bakım veren bilgi formu, çok boyutlu algılanan sosyal destek ölçeği ve Beck umutsuzluk ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Veriler tanımlayıcı istatistikler, Kruskal Wallis testi, Mann Whitney U testi ve korelasyon testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada hastaların ve bakım verenlerin algılanan sosyal destek düzeyleri ile umutsuzluk düzeyleri arasında zayıf düzeyde, negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur. Hastaların gelir durumu ile algılanan sosyal destek düzeyi arasında; cinsiyet, gelir durumu ve yaşam şekli ile umutsuzluk düzeyi arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bakım verenlerin gelir durumu ve yardımcı birisinin bulunma durumu ile algılanan sosyal destek düzeyi arasında; eğitim durumu, gelir durumu, hastaya yakınlık durumu, bakım süresi ve bakımda yardımcı birisi bulunma durumu değişkenleri ile umutsuzluk düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak; hastalarda ve bakım verenlerde algılanan sosyal destek düzeyi arttıkça umutsuzluk düzeyi azalmaktadır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Kanser, Hasta, Bakım Veren, Algılanan Sosyal Destek, Umutsuzluk

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between level of perceived social support and level of hopelessness in both patient who has cancer and their caregivers. The study is a cross-sectional study. The study takes place in Aydın Atatürk State Hospital's chemotherapy unit and medical oncology clinic with 247 outpatients and inpatients cancer patients and caregiver who are applied, volunteer and suitable for the criterions of acceptance in between January 2017 and May 2018. All the datas collected through patient and caregiver information form, `Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (MSPSS)` and Beck Hopelessness Scale. For the analyses of the datas, descriptive statistics, Kruskal Wallis Test, Mann Whitney U Test and corrolation analyses test were used. Results of this study show that there is a low level and negative relationship between perceived social support and level of hopelessnes in both cancer patients and their caregivers. Significant differences were found in between several veriables such as patients' economic status and perceived social support, gender and economic status and life style and level of hopelessness. There are significant differences in between caregivers' economic status and perceived social support, presence of another supporting agent and perceived social support. Also, significant differences in between caregivers' education state, economic status, degree of relatives, duration of care, presence of another supporting agent and the level of hopelessness were observed. Thus, when perceived social suport increase, level of hopelessness decrease in cancer patients and their caregivers.Key Words: Cancer, Patient, Caregiver, Perceived Social Support, Hopelesness
