Ortaokul öğrencilerinin okul yaşam kalitesini, okula aidiyet duygusunu ve okul iklimini neler etkilemektedir?

Abstract

Bu araştırmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin okul yaşam kalitesi, okula aidiyet duygusu ve okul iklimi algılarını etkileyen değişkenlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın evreni 2017-2018 öğretim yılında aydın ili merkez Efeler ilçesindeki ortaokullara devam eden altıncı, yedinci ve sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Evrendeki ortaokullardan alt, orta ve üst sosyo-ekonomik düzeyden olacak şekilde yansız küme örnekleme yoluyla on üç okul belirlenmiş, bu okullardan yine seçkisiz olarak her bir kademeden ikişer şube seçilmiştir. Araştırmaya 520'si kız, 531'i erkek öğrenci olmak üzere alt sosyo-ekonomik düzeydeki okullardan 216 (%20,2), orta sosyo-ekonomik düzeydeki okullardan 480 (%44,9) ve üst sosyo-ekonomik düzeydeki okullardan 355 (%33,2) toplamda 1051 öğrenci katılmıştır. Öğrencilerin 376'sı altıncı sınıf, 360'ı yedinci sınıf, 315'i sekizinci sınıf öğrencisidir ve öğrencilerin yaşları 10 ile 15 arasında değişmektedir. Araştırmada veriler 'Okul Yaşam Kalitesi ölçeği' (ÖYKÖ), 'Okul İklimi Ölçeği' (OİÖ), 'Okula Aidiyet Duygusu Ölçeği' (OAD) kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS paket programı kullanılarak betimsel istatistikler incelenmiş, ayrıca bağımsız gruplar t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA), Tukey Hsd ve çoklu regresyon analizleri kullanılmıştır. Bulguların anlamlı olup olmadığının değerlendirilmesinde p<0,05 anlamlılık düzeyi ölçüt alınmıştır. Analizler yapılmadan önce örneklemin `doğrusallık` ve `normallik` sayıltılarını karşıladığı belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre okul yaşam kalitesi ölçeğinden alınan puanlar ve alt boyutları olan okula yönelik duygular, statü, öğretmenler ile sınıf değişkeni açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılıklar bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca, okul yaşam kalitesi ölçeğinden alınan puanlar ve alt boyutlarının cinsiyet değişkeni açısından istatistiksel olarak farklılık gösterdiği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır.Buna ek olarak öğrencilerin okul yaşam kalitelerinin okula yönelik duygularının ve öğretmene yönelik duygularının kardeş sayısına göre farklılık gösterdiği görülmektedir.Okul iklimi ölçeği ve alt boyutları olan destekleyici öğretmen davranışları, başarı odaklılık ile sınıf değişkenleri arasında anlamlı farklılık olduğu görülmektedir. Ayrıca, okul iklimi ölçeği ve alt boyutları puanları arasında cinsiyet değişkenine göre farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir.Okul aidiyet ölçeği puanları ve alt boyutları olan okula bağlılık, reddedilmişlik duygusu ile sosyo-ekonomik statü ve cinsiyet değişkenleri açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık görülmektedir.Araştırmada, ortaokul öğrencilerinin okul yaşam kalitesi, okul iklimi ve okula aidiyet duygusu algıları arasında anlamlıilişkiler olduğu belirlenmiştir. Okul yaşam kalitesi ile okul iklimi algısının öğrencilerin okula aidiyet duygusunun anlamlı yordayıcıları olduğu görülmüştür.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the variables which affect the quality of school life, sense of school belongings and school climate of secondary school students. The statistical relationships between these three variables also investigated in the study. Research population includes sixth, seventh and eighth grade students which proceeds their secondary school from Aydın central districts in 2017-2018 school year. Thirteen schools, which were identified as lower, middle and upper social economic status by unbiased cluster sampling method, is selected from the research population. The research is conducted on 1051 students; 207 of them from the school which has low socio-economic status, 205 of them from the school which has middle socio-economic status and, 190 of them from the school which has high socio-economic status.376 of the students are in the sixth grade, 360 are in the seventh grade, 315 are in the eighth grade, and the ages of the students range from 10 to 15. Quality of School Life Scale (QSLS) , School Climate Scale (SCS) and Psychological Sense of School Membership Scale (PSSM) were used as data collection tools. In data analysis, descriptive statistics were examined by means of SPSS package software. Furthermore, independent samples t-test, ANOVA, Tukey HSD and multiple regression analysis were used. In evaluating the findings in being significant or not .05 significance level is determined as the criteria. It is identified before these are done that the sample meets the premises for `linearity` and `normality`.According to the results of the study, there is a statistically significant difference in terms of affect toward to school, status, teacher and classroom. In addition, quality of school life scale and subscales were statistically different in terms of gender variation. There are significant relationships between school climate scale and supportive teacher behaviors, class variables. In addition, it was found that school climate scale and subscale scores differed according to gender variable. The results of the study indicated that there are significant relationships between the sense of school belonging scale and school attachment, feelings of rejection, socio-economic status and gender.In the study, it was determined that secondary school students had a significant relationship between quality of school life, school climate and school belonging scales. Furthermore, sense of school belonging levels was predicted significantly by the variables of quality of school life and school climate.
