Tüketim mekanı olarak kent, mekanın dönüşümü ve üniversite öğrencileri

Abstract

Her ne kadar tarihsel süreçte 15. Yüzyıl'a kadar geriye götürülebilse de bu çalışmada 1980 sonrası süreç üzerinden irdelenmiş olan küreselleşme, çok boyutlu ve karmaşık bir süreçtir. Genel anlamda siyasal, kültürel, ekonomik görünümleri üzerinden tartışılan süreç, yine bu başlıklar üzerinden daha da daraltılarak açıklanabilir. Küreselleşmenin ekonomik görünümleri içerisinde açıklanabilecek olan piyasaların küreselleşmesi, gerçekleşme düzeyi ve yol açtığı sonuçlar açısından çok önemlidir ki küreselleşmenin çok yönlülüğü üzerinde duranlar çoğunlukla piyasanın küreselleşmesinin gerçekliğini yadsımaksızın, diğer boyutların varlığına da dikkat çekmektedir. Hal böyle olunca finansal küreselleşme ve tüketim mekanı olarak kent üzerine yoğunlaşılan olan bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de tüketim mekanının öznelerinden biri konumunda olan üniversite öğrencileri üzerinden mekanın yeniden nasıl üretildiği ve bu sürecin mekanda nasıl bir sosyal gerçeklik yarattığı sorgulanmıştır. Temel hak durumundaki hizmetlerden biri olan eğitim çerçevesinde sosyal devlet, sunduğu hizmetler ile üniversite öğrencilerinin barınma ihtiyaçlarını karşılarken sosyal refah politikalarının terk edilmesiyle birlikte yapı gereksinimleri karşılayamaz hale gelmiştir. Bu noktada temel ihtiyaçlardan biri olan barınma ihtiyacının karşılanmasında özel sektör ya da inşaat sermayesi devreye girmektedir. Araştırmada; öğrenciler üzerinden yaratılan mekan ekonomisinin inşa edilme sürecine ve tüketim-mekan ilişkisini üreten ve sürdüren toplumsal mekanizmalara odaklanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda yaratılan mekan ekonomisi ile birlikte ortaya çıkan sosyal gerçeklik üzerinden üniversite öğrencilerinin barınma sorunu, öğrenci kimliğinin ve yaşam tarzının tüketim üzerinden yeniden inşa edilmesi, öğrencilerin finansallaştırılması süreci ve üniversite öğrencileri aracılığıyla yaratılan neo-liberal kentsellik araştırılmıştır.

Although it can be traced back to the 15th century in the historical process, globalization that has been examined through the post-1980 process in this study is a multidimensional and complex process. The process, which is generally handled with political, cultural and economic aspects, can also be explained by further narrowing on these headings. The globalization of markets, which can be explained in the economic outlook of globalization, is so important in terms of the level of realization and the consequences it causes that those who emphasize the versatility of globalization often draw attention to the existence of other dimensions without denying the reality of the globalization of the market. Under the circumstances, how the space is reproduced and how the social reality is created by this process in space has been questioned through university students, who are one of the subjects of consumption spaces in Turkey, in this study, which focused on the city as a space of financial globalization and consumption.As meeting the housing needs of university students with the services within the framework of education, which is one of the basic rights services, the social state has been unable to meet the building needs with the abandonment of social welfare policies. At this point, the private sector or construction capital has come into play in meeting the housing needs, which is one of the basic needs. The process of formation of space economy created thanks to students and the social mechanisms that produce and maintain the relationship between consumption and space were focused on in the study. Considering the social reality that emerges with the space economy created in this context, the housing problem of university students, the reconstruction of student identity and lifestyle through consumption, the process of financialization of students and the neo-liberal urbanism created via university students were researched.
