6. sınıf öğrencilerinin `Yenilenebilir enerji` konusundaki bilişsel yapılarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Enerji, yaşamın her evresinde var olmuştur ve var olmaya devam edecektir. Gerek günlük yaşam açısından gerekse bütün sektörlerde önemli bir girdi olan enerji, kalkınma ve gelişmenin sürdürülebilmesi açısından gerekli, yaşamın zorunlu bir tüketim maddesidir. Yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarının enerji üretimi içerisindeki payının artırılması, hem ekonomik açıdan hem de çevresel açıdan önemlidir. Bu konuda toplumsal farkındalığın artırılması adına atılacak ilk adım, Fen Bilgisi eğitimlerinde öğrencilerin enerji konusunda bilişsel düzeylerinin yükseltilmesidir. Bu çalışma 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin yenilenebilir enerji konusundaki bilişsel yapılarını incelemiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusundaMersin ilinde 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim döneminde 6. sınıfta öğrenim gören öğrencilerden rastgele seçilen 1355 öğrenciye yenilenebilir enerji konusunda kazanım kontrol testi uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca bu öğrencilerden rastgele yöntemle seçilen 366 öğrenciye ikinci veri toplama aracı olarak kelime ilişkilendirme testi uygulanmıştır. Kazanım kontrol testinden elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda öğrencilerin genel olarak yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarına yönelik kazanımlarının iyi düzeyde olduğu, yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarının önemini vurgulama konusundaki kazanımlarının orta düzeyde kaldığı, enerji dönüşümlerini bilme konusunda ise beklenenin altında bir düzeyde oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Kelime ilişkilendirme testinde altı anahtar kavram kullanılmıştır. Kavramlarından `güneş` kavramını bildikleri, `biyokütle` ve `hidroelektrik` anahtar kavramlarının yenilenebilir enerjiyle ilişkisini kurmakta güçlük çektikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca `biyokütle enerjisi`ne dair zayıf (düşük) düzeyde bilgilerinin olduğu ve ünitenin diğer kavramlarıyla ilişki kuramadıkları belirlenmiştir.

The energy has existed in every phase of the life and will continue so. The energy, which is a vital input for not only daily life but also all kinds of segments, is necessary to sustain improvement and development; and also a compulsory consumption item. The increase of the portion of renewable energy sources at producing energy is important for both economically and environmentally. The first step to be taken for the enhancement of social awareness about this issue, is to raise the cognitive levels of students at Science and Technology classes. The main purpose of this study is determine the cognitive levels of the 6th grades students about renewable energy. In accordance with this purpose,an achievement control test about renewable energy was administered on the randomly selected 1355 students that studied at the 6th grades in 2015-16 academic year in Mersin. Besides, as a second data collecting tool, a word association test was applied to the 366 students who were randomly selected from this group.After the analysis of the data derived from the achievement tests, the results have shown that students' achievements about renewable energy resources are generally at a good level, the achievements about emphasizing the importance of the renewable energy sources are at an average level, the achievements about the knowledge of transformations of the energy are under the expectations. Six key terms were used in word association test. It has been concluded that they know the sun term but they have difficulty relating the biomass and the hydroelectrical terms to the renewable energy. In addition, it has been determined that they have poor information about the biomass energy and inability of making connections to the other terms of the unit. In the light of the research datas, some examples about the process of the academic education of the science and technology teaching candidates and the methods of raising the interest levels of the students related to the issue are given at the end.
