7. sınıf matematik veri analizi konusunun vustat yardımıyla öğretiminin öğrencilerin akademik başarısına ve kalıcılığa etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı 7. Sınıf matematik dersi öğretim programında yer alan `Veri Analizi` konusunun VUstat yazılımı ile öğretiminin akademik başarıya ve kalıcılığa etkisi ile bu programın öğretimde kullanılması hakkında öğrenci görüşlerini almaktır. Araştırmada son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırma, 2017-2018 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Mersin ili Toroslar ilçesinde farklı iki mahallede yer alan iki ortaokulun 7. sınıflarında yürütülmüştür. Okullardan 24 ve 25 öğrenci bulunan birer sınıf deney gruplarını kalan sekiz sınıf kontrol gruplarını oluşturmuştur. Sınıf içi aktivitelerden önce öğrencilerin 2017-2018 güz dönem matematik karne notları incelenerek grupların akademik başarılarının birbirine yakın olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Deney grupları için resmi öğretim programına uygun üç haftalık kurs planlanmıştır. Kurs sürecinde VUstat yazılımının etkin kullanımını içeren, planlanmış VUstat etkinlikleri öğrencilerle paylaşılmıştır. Eş zamanlı olarak, kontrol gruplarında resmi öğretim programına uygun olarak eğitime devam edilmiştir. Çalışma sonrası öğrencilere son test ve kalıcılık testi uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca çalışma sonrasında deney gruplarına, VUstat yazılımı hakkındaki görüşlerini alabilmek için 14 maddelik bir anket uygulanmıştır. Testler ve gruplar arasında yapılan karşılaştırmalar sonucunda, VUstat'ın öğrencilerin öğrenme ve başarıları üzerinde bir etkisinin olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Kalıcılık testi sonucunda ise VUstat yazılımı kullanımının öğrenilen bilgilerin kalıcılığında bir etkisinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Deney gruplarına uygulanan anket sonucunda VUstat kullanımının konuyu öğrenmede etkili olduğu, kavramları öğrenmeyi kolaylaştırdığı, dersin işlenişini zevkli hale getirdiği, eğitimin niteliğinde olumlu yönde katkı sağladığı, öğretimi zenginleştirdiği ve zaman kaybını önlediği tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to demonstrate the effect of teaching `Data Analysis` subject, which is in the 7th grade mathematics curriculum, with VUstat Software on success and permanence and to get the views of the students about the use of this program in math teaching. In the research, a quasi-experimental research model was used. This research was conducted in the 7th grades of two secondary schools located in two different neighborhoods in Toroslar district of Mersin province in 2017-2018 Academic Year's Second Term. One class (24 and 25 students) from each school formed the experimental groups and the remaining eight formed the control groups. A three-week course is planned for the experimental groups according to the formal curriculum. In the process of the course, planned VUstat activities involving the effective use of VUstat software were shared with the students. Simultaneously, education was continued in the control groups in accordance with the formal curriculum. After the study, post-test and permanence test was applied to the students. Furthermore, a questionnaire including 14 items was applied to the experimental groups to get their opinions about VUstat software after the study. As a result of the comparisons between the tests and the groups, it was concluded that VUstat had no effect on students' learning and achievement. As for result of the reminder test, it was determined that the use of VUstat software had no effect on the permanence of the information learned. As a result of the questionnaire applied to the experimental groups, it was determined that the use of VUstat was effective in learning the subject, facilitated learning of the concepts, made the course enjoyable, contributed positively to the quality of education, enriched the teaching and prevented the loss of time.
