dc.description.abstract | ART AND INTUITION Human life is in a continuous change and the history, the continu ation of time, keeps its existence by accumulation of thoughts and feelings. In this context, it is impossible to mention the absolute and unchanging reality of descriptions. No description or defini tion is concrete and ever-lasting; they are under a constant pro cess of change which can never be frozen or grasped. Making various definitions of art and its differing terminologies should not be concided as an unessential thing in terms of the history of philosophy. Each answer given to the question of `What is art?` and each definition of the nature of art indicates a different aspect of this complicated subject. In this study, the concept of Intuition which has an important place in the terminology of art, is discussed. Explaining this con cept by starting only from a particular thought inevitably brings incorrect conclusions. Thus, thoughts and ideas of various philo sophers and artists involved in the subject, have been presented. It should also be noted that the purpose of this study is not to make absolute judgements and specific def initions, but to define the framework in which the subject should be discussed. In the first section, an answer to the question of `WHAT İS ART?` has beön sought as a background for the discussion of the rela tionship between intuition and art r basing on the thoughts and. ideas of Banfi,Hussel and Hegel. In this section, art has also been explained by a process of eli mination:, `Art is not morality`, `Art is not mathematics`, `Art is not natural science`, `Art is not phsysics`. In the second section, attempts have been made to define the concept of intuition in a comprehensive way. First, it has been explained with such concepts of philosophy as subconscious and conscious. Then, a comparison<-has been made between sensation and intuition, and characteristics of Intuition and sensitive types have been indicated. The definition of intuition have been made accor ding to the principles of metaphysics and dialectical materialism. Bergson's definition has a,lso -feaen presented in this section. In the third section, Croce ' s thoughts on the relationship of in tuition with conception, perception and time-space.have baen given. Through the fourth part, various aspects of the concepts of art and intuition have been studied from different perspectives. Croce1 s thoughts on art and intuition have also been discussed. The fifth part covers the ability of expression that the art and the artists have, and its relationship with the intuition, and intuitive knowledge and expressive knowledge as well. In the sixth section, the intuition has been explained with the concept of creativity and the relationship between these two concepts. | en_US |
