dc.description.abstract61 SUMMARY AND RESULTS The purpose of this study was to enable us to realise the effect of becoming industria lized to social change. On the first chapter of the study, theoritical approaches concerning with becoming industrialized and social change were discussed. On the second chapter the information about research method was realised. On the third chapter- the evidences obtained at the end of the research were evaluated and commented. As to the selection of those to be discussed at the research the random sampling method was used. The negotiation was made with 100 people. Interview and observation techniques were utilised. At the interview previously prepared 28 questions were inquired. V/e may summarize the evidences obtained at the end of the research as follows: %3 # of the population are women and 35 % men. The difference on man population in accordance with general adispersion is for that the man coming to the area- for labor did not allowed their family members accompany with them. The ages more, than half population vary between 19-39 years The fairly young aged population may either be resulted in the general population average rate ox may be assumed as those who meet the demand for manpower in industry field.62 30 $ of population were born in the Balkans. 23 # east and southeast Anatolia. While the population homing in Anatolia were 55`'$ out the fact that the population horning in Istanbul were only 15 % are very interesting when we tried to indicated the immigration rate to thisprovince. When the education level of them handled, although 60 % are primary school graduate, 25 # junior high school and 8 % higher education grad uates, the rate of the illeterates are 7 %. When the general rate was taken into consideration this result can be assumed to be nearly in parellel with the general dispersion. Regarding the labors performed prior to coming to Istanbul of those horning out of Istanbul it was observed that 40 % were farmer andshepherd, 8 # were.rsmall scale retailer although 10 # were unemployed. These people after arrival to Istanbul employed in some labors such as industry worker with 28 % workshop owner with 15 %, small-scale retailer 18 #, day laborer with 10 % and manager with 8 #. And besides, they have additional job exept their fundamental labor. 4-0 <p of the employees statet that they had additional job. 25 % of these additional gobs are hawker 63 % of the employees are insured and 35 % are not. With respect to the immigration reason to Istanbul, 30 % of the population immigrated to homeland from abroad. 30 % of the immigrants from Anatolia immigrated due to economic condition, 27 % are of second generation accompanied with their family when removed. And besides, there are people coming for educational reasons by 11 *p When the immig&tion from abroad exempted, the immigration for employment described as economical condition is in the outstanding rate.63 The spouses birthplaces of the married population are seen to be in pax-aliel with their own birthplaces. It is inadequate to describe this situation with that ^they had come there as married status. It was concluded that they preferred the one of their own region regarding spouse selection of the immigrants... marrying in Istanbul. It was found out that 30 y> spounses of the married population were not working but home maker, 13 % were small-scale retailer, 12 % were unemployed and currently look for a job and 8 % #ere employed at industry field.. The rate of 2 or 3 children owners were nearly fifty percent ( 4-6 % ), and the rate of 1 child owner and 5 children or more than 5 children owner are lower (nearly 5 9°, 8 # ). 75 # of the children were born Istanbul, 25 # out of Istanbul. And over again 54- percentage are currently student. The children in pre-education level are at 17 percentage. When the age average of the children in the pre-education and primary school level put into consideration, it was seen that age average of whole children were fairly low 60 % of the population is house owner while the rate of the residents inhabiting in their own home for 5 years were at 33 per centage, more than 10 years residents were 45 percentage, These results show us that the population in Bayrampaşa lasted their life in-, sedentary way. When studied the particulars of the resided houses, it was seen that 64 % consists of 2 rooms, all houses have electricity, water and drainage64 supply, water closet in the houses of 5 °p were at the outside the house, the rate of the houses having a kitchen seperate from rooms is 8? $>, the rate of the houses having a `bathroom seperate from water closet is 42 # It was observed that the habitation period in Bayrampaşa were longer. 52 percentage were those inhabits for more than 25 years. And 77 percentage were those inhabits in Bayrampaşa for more than 10 years. The reason for residing in Bayrampaşa is for that it was next to workplace at 48 ^, for being a house owner at 23 %. The statement at 80`^ percent was for that their workplace area labored in Bayrampaşa and its environment. The fact that the first thing considered to be purchased when available was house and when remembered that the rate of the house under rent., the importance of having a house appears. Although 33 percentage wished be house owner, the rate of those who want to buy households especially furniture is 25 #. The rate of people eager to buy a private car is 20 #. Kegarding the usage of white and brown object in houses, TV and refrigerator were occupied by even all, washing machine by 58 #, electric sweeper by 43 #, and video by 40 #. This conclusion shows us that the object making the indoor life simpler were widespread and even the luxury object such as video. In addition, enduring consumption goods may have been considered as ones necessary to become a united whole with city life standarts.65 Although, daily newspaper reading rate is rather high such as 85 a>, book reading rate is slighty lower by 8 % The rate of attendance to theatre is, when considered all population, 50 # and this rate can be accepted as fairly good. It was concluded that the interviewed people were not eager to go somewhere out of Bayrampaşa ( 63 % ). When regarded this result most inhabitants can be said that they had become united with the environment. However, they complained for the pollution resulted in industrial establishments. Final conlusion obtained by observation method of the research is that the industrial establishment either caused the positive changes to occur as much as negative changes. The industrial establishments next to resident area would ma^e the life difficult day by day by their residual articles and noise outputs. The pollution resulted in the industry are estimated that it was on the level menacing the physical and psycological health. To obtain the final conclusion on this subject may be taken a goal by other research. From the point of view of the researcher, the fact that the necessary measures to be taken for preventing.the recent pollution and environmental pollution in this region are multiple being social and legal measures. The researcher wish the necessary measures are immediately taken.en_US
