Lazerle biçimlendirilmiş (laser-structured) tabanı olan seramik braketlerin debonding özelliklerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı lazerle biçimlendirilmiş (laser-structured) tabanı olan seramik braketlerin iki farklı söküm aletiyle `debond` işlemi sonrasında Adeziv Artık Skorunun (ARI) ve debonding sırasında oluşan ağrının incelenmesi ve karşılaştırılmasıdır.Materyal ve Metot: Yaşları 12 ile 24 arasında değişen (yaş ortalaması 18 yıl 3 ay) 25 kadın ve 7 erkek toplam 32 hasta çalışmaya dahil edildi. Hastaların ortalama tedavi süresi 10,9 ay idi. Çalışmamızda; 640 adet 0,022 inç MBT Discovery Pearl (Dentaurum, Ispringen, Almanya) seramik braket kullanıldı. Tedavi sonunda `debond` işlemi Sushi söküm pensi (American Orthodontics, Sheboygan, USA) ve Discovery Pearl söküm aleti (Dentaurum, Ispringen, Almanya) ile `split-mouth` dizayn ile gerçekleştirildi. Braketlerin söküm işlemi sırasında ARI skorları değerlendirildi. Söküm sırasında oluşan ağrı Vizüel Analog Skalası (VAS) ile değerlendirildi. ARI skoru ve VAS değerleri söküm aletlerine göre karşılaştırıldı. ARI skorlarının karşılaştırılmasında ki-kare (P<0,05) ve VAS değerlerinin karşılaştırılmasında ise Wilcoxon (P<0,05) testleri kullanıldı.Bulgular: ARI skoru; her iki söküm aletinde de benzer dağılım gösterdi. ARI skorları ve VAS değerleri, söküm aletine göre istatistiksel olarak önemli farklılık göstermedi.Sonuç: Discovery Pearl seramik braketlerin sökümü için kullanılan iki farklı söküm aleti artık adeziv miktarı ve ağrı değerinde fark meydana getirmedi.Anahtar Kelimeler: Seramik Braket; Debonding; Adeziv Artık İndeksi; Ağrı.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the clinical success, i.e. Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI) and pain, of two ceramic bracket debonding instruments of ceramic brackets with a laser-structured base.Materials and Methods: Thirty-two patients (25 females and 7 males) aged between 12 and 24 years (mean age 18 years 3 months) were included in this study. The mean duration of treatment was 10.9 months. 640 Discovery Pearl ceramic brackets (Dentaurum, Ispringen, Germany; 0.022- inch MBT system) were used. At the end of the treatment, debonding was performed with a Sushi Debonding Plier (American Orthodontics, Sheboygan, USA) and a Discovery Pearl Debonding Instrument (Dentaurum, Ispringen, Germany) with a split-mouth design. The ARI scores of the patients who completed treatment were determined. Pain/discomfort was assessed with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) during the debonding procedure. The ARI scores and the VAS values were determined with respect to the debonding instrument type. The ARI data was examined with ki-kare test (P<0,05), whereas the VAS data was evaluated with the Wilcoxon test (P<0,05).Results: The ARI scores were similar for both debonding instruments. The ARI scores and VAS values did not show a statistically significant difference for both debonding instruments.Conclusion: This clinical trial showed that the two different debonding instruments did not produce any differences concerning the amount of adhesive remnant and pain.Keywords: Ceramic Bracket; Debonding; Adhesive Remnant Index; Pain
