Y Over the past 20 years the world economy has become more and more integrated. International trade and investment have increased and the spatial distribution of industrial activities has become more diffused. Advances in communications, computer technology and logistics have revolutionized the business and conducted our new life formation. Globalization, that is the international integration of product, service and financial markets, poses enormous opportunities and challanges. To take the opportunity for Istanbul as a global city, it should strengthen its comparative advantage in the global markets. The public sector should also foster the formation of social overhead capital and facilitate the development of critical infrastructure, social services and other investments that can not be provided by the private sector. For the individual, firm and city home to take active part in this huge network; one should know how to use information technologies to get data as a difference to make a difference. Although USA, Germany, Japan and other developed countries are leading the globalization, -for the first initiation this is true- information technology firms do have much more greater power in this huge network since all the big firms, countries, local companies are all the clients. All the players in this system should follow up the technological developments closely to be able to react quickly for emergencies. This thesis aims to be a comprehensive introduction to a new type of society living in virtual spaces interconnected by the information superhighway. While trying to be technically well-grounded, all the interconnections and inter activity between each player -city, individual, government, technology firms- are considered to be more accurate for future progress.en_US
