Y Age related memory decline was shown in several studies. Memory training methods were developed to improve memory problems in non-demented elderly. Recently computers have been used more frequently for that purpose. In this thesis, these studies are summarized` briefly/ Following this mtroductiön^dinical study <terre in a nursing home in USA is presented. In the clinical study, the use of computer exercises to improve memory, attention and concentration investigated in non- demented nursing home residents. Of 20 residents (age 77-102) referred to the study, 8 had adequate perceptual and motor skills. They were administered the Mini Mental State Exam, the Nelson Adult Reading Test and subtests from the Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (Visual Memory Span, Visual Reproductions, Verbal Paired Associate Learning). Six individual 30 minute sessions were offered over three weeks. Five residents completed the study and significantly improved their scores (p=0.02) on the visual reproduction subtest which measured that aspect of memory directly targeted by the intervention. Verbal memory scores did not improve. 34en_US
