Güncellenen 9. sınıf İngilizce öğretim programının eski programla öğretmen görüşlerine göre karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında güncellenen 9. sınıfİngilizce öğretim programını eski programla öğretmen görüşlerine görekarşılaştırmaktır. Güncellenen 9. sınıf İngilizce öğretim programının eskiprogramla öğretmen görüşlerine göre karşılaştırılması amacıyla yapılan buçalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden Olgubilim (fenomenoloji) desenikullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu Kahramanmaraş ilindeki MEB'e bağlıortaöğretim kurumlarında görev yapan 10 İngilizce öğretmeninden oluşmuştur.Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerden 6'sı erkek, 4'ü ise kadındır. Veri toplama aracıolarak ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu tercih edilmiştir.Araştırma sonunda, öğretmenler yeni programda eski programa göre dörttemel beceriye (okuma, yazma, konuşma, dinleme) daha fazla yer verildiğini vekonuşma (speaking) becerisinin özellikle ön plana çıkarıldığını ifade etmişlerdir.Ancak öğretmenler yeni programın dört temel beceri konusunda çok büyük farklaryaratmayacağını düşünmektedir. Bunun nedenleri olarak da öğretmenlerin sınıftageleneksel öğretim anlayışını sürdürmeye devam ettikleri, programların hep teorikIIolarak kaldığı ve tam olarak uygulanmadığı, fiziki şartların ve öğrenci seviyelerininyetersiz olduğu gerekçelerini öne sürmüşlerdir. Öğretmenler güncellenen programıniçerik boyutunda bir önceki programa göre bazı eksiklikler olsa da programıniçeriğinin genel olarak öğrencilerin ilgi, istek ve motivasyonlarını artırmaya yönelikolduğunu, gerek seçilen ünitelerin gerekse okuma parçalarının günlük hayatlabağlantılı olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Öğretmenler güncel programda kullanılmasıönerilen yöntem, teknik ve araç-gereçlerin öğretmenleri ve öğrencileri hedeflenendavranışlara ulaştırmada yeterli olabileceğini ancak bunu gerçekleştirebilmek içinokulların fiziki şartlarının düzeltilmesi gerektiğini ve farklı yöntem ve tekniklerin dekullanılması gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenler ayrıca uygulama sınavlarınınyapılmasının dört temel beceriyi ölçmede etkili ve verimli bir ölçme aracı olduğunuifade etmişlerdir. Önceki ölçme araçlarının öğrencilerin sadece dilbilgisi ve okumayeteneklerini ölçtüğü fakat öğrencilerin dinleme ve konuşma yeteneklerini es geçtiğive bunun da yabancı dil öğretimine zarar verdiği vurgulanmıştır. Öğretmenlerin çoğuderslerinde alternatif ölçme aracı kullanmadıklarını ve buna ihtiyaç duymadıklarınıbelirtmişlerdir.Anahtar Kelimeler: İngilizce Öğretim Programı, Yabancı Dil Eğitimi, Yöntem veTeknikler, Ölçme Araçları

The overall aim of this study is to compare the updated 9th grade Englishcurriculum in the 2017-2018 academic year with the old program according toteachers' views. In this study, which was conducted in order to determine thedifferences between the updated 9th grade English curriculum and the old program,phenomenology (Phenomenology), which is one the qualitative research, was used.The study group is consist of 10 English teachers who work in secondary educationinstitutions of the Ministry of National Education. Of the teachers participating in thestudy, 6 were male and 4 were female. As a data collection tool, semi-structuredinterview form was preferred.At the end of the research, teachers stated that the four basic skills (reading,writing, speaking, listening) were actively and effectively used in the new program,and that the ability of speaking, which had been complained, ignored by the teachersin previous programs, became important and outstanding in this program. However,teachers think that the new program will not create very big differences in four basicskills. The reasons for this are that teachers continue to maintain traditional teachingin the classroom, that the programs remain theoretically and that they are not fullyimplemented, and that the physical conditions and student levels are insufficient.Teachers stated that the content of the updated program is aimed at increasing thestudents' interest, desire and motivation, although there are some shortcomingsaccording to the previous program. When the opinions of teachers about the adequacyof the methods, techniques and equipments used in reaching the targeted behaviorsIVare examined, teachers stated that the methods, techniques and tools used in thecurrent program may be sufficient to deliver the teachers and students to the targetedbehaviors but in order to achieve this, the physical conditions of schools must beimproved and different methods and techniques should be used. Teachers stated thatthe practice exams are effective and efficient measurement tool in measuring the fourbasic skills. It was emphasized that the previous measurement tools only measure thegrammar and reading abilities of the students, but overlooked the listening andspeaking skills of the students, which also harmed foreign language teaching. Most ofthe teachers stated that they do not use and do not need an alternative measurementtool in their courses.Key Words: English Curriculum, Foreign Language Education, Methods andTechniques, Measurement Tools
