A Study of bankruptcy in Turkey. The cases of: Marbank, TYT Bank, Impexbank

Abstract

Öz Bu tez çalışması Türkiye'de iflas üzerinedir. Çalışmada 1994 ekonomik krizinde faaliyetleri durdurulmuş bankalar, Marbank, TYT Bank, Impexbank, yakından incelenmiştir. Birinci bölüm Türk ekonomisi ve finans sektörüne genel bir bakıştır. Bu genel bakış aynı zamanda 1994 krizine sebep olan olayların kronolojik biçimde anlatımını da içerir. İkinci bölüm yasal düzenlemeler ve iflas durumunun genel bir incelemesidir. Yasal izlenme ve mali tablo analizinde kullanılan rasyolar bu bölümde tanımlanmıştır. Son bölüm bankacılık sektörünün son gelişmeler ışığında bir değerlendirilmesini ve toplumun yatırım tercihlerinin analizini kapsar. İflas eden bankalar oranlar yardımı ile incelenip, her biri ile ilgili sonuçlara varılmıştır. Tez genel sonuçlarla bitirilmiştir.

ABSTRACT This thesis study is on bankruptcy in Turkey with a close look at the cases of Marbank, TYT Bank, and Impexbank, the banks that failed in the 1994 economic crisis. The first part is a general overview of the Turkish economy and financial sector. The overview also covers a chronological description of events leading up to an economic crisis in 1994. The second part is on banking regulations followed by a study of bankruptcy in general. Official monitoring and the ratios used in financial statement analysis are defined in this section. The final part depicts the Turkish financial sector in light of recent developments, and goes on to show the latest investment trends among the public. Each bank is analysed using financial ratios. The study ends with general conclusions. m
