Üstün zekalı çocuklarda duygusal zekayı geliştirmeye dönük program geliştirme çalışması

Abstract

Bu araştırma, duygusal ve sosyal gelişimleri bilişsel gelişimleri kadar hızlıolmayan ve bu sebeple, duygusal konularda akranlarından daha fazla sorun yaşamaeğilimi olan, üstün zekalı öğrencilerin, duygusal zekalarını geliştirmek amacıyla birprogram geliştirilmesini, uygulanmasını ve etkililiğinin sınanmasını kapsamaktadır. Buamaçla 14 oturumluk ?Duygusal Zeka Geliştirme Programı? oluşturulmuştur.Çalışma, İstanbul ilinde, üstün zekalı çocuklara farklılaştırılmış bir eğitimprogramı sunan Beyazıt Ford Otosan İlköğretim Okulunda, 1. sınıfa devam eden 11'ideney grubunda, 11'i de kontrol grubundaki 22 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Deneygrubundaki öğrencilere 14 oturumluk ?Duygusal Zeka Geliştirme Programı? haftadaikişer gün 50'şer dakikalık süreyle uygulanmış, kontrol grubuna ise herhangi biruygulamada bulunulmamıştır.Araştırma kapsamında öğrencilerin Duygusal Zeka düzeylerini belirlemekamacıyla veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacı tarafından geçerlik güvenirlik çalışmasıyapılan, Bar-On Duygusal Zeka Ölçeği Çocuk ve Ergen Formu (Bar-On EmotionalQuotient Inventory Youth Version EQ-i:YV) kullanılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grubundakitüm öğrencilere öntest ve sontest olarak verilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 11,5 paketprogramıyla analiz edilmiştir. İstatistiksel analizde Mann Whitney U testi ve Wilcoxonİşaretlenmiş Mertebeler Testi teknikleri kullanılmıştır.Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, üstün zekalı öğrencilere yönelik hazırlananduygusal zeka geliştirme programının öğrencilerin duygusal zeka seviyelerini arttırdığısonucuna varılmıştır.

This study deals with developing, applying, and testing a program in order todevelop the emotional intelligence of gifted students, whose emotional and socialdevelopment are not as rapid as their cognitive development, and for this reason whotend to have more problems on emotional issues than their peers. For this aim`Emotional Intelligence Development Program? consisting of 14 sessions wasdeveloped.The study was conducted with a total number of 22 students, 11 of them instudy group and 11 in wait list control group, who were students from first grades ofBeyazıt Ford Otosan Elementary School in İstanbul which offers a differenciatedcurriculum for gifted children. Emotional Intelligence Development Program consistingof 14 sessions was applied to the study group two times a week with a duration of 50minutes.Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory Youth Version EQ-i: YV, adapted by theresearcher is used to determine the emotional intelligence level of the students. Scalesare applied as pre-test and post test. Statistical analyses were conducted via SPSS11,5. Mann Whitney-U and Wilcoxon test were used in statistical analysis.The results of the study revealed that `Emotional Intelligence DevelopmentProgram? which was developed for the gifted students, increases the emotionalintelligence level of the students.
