dc.description.abstract9. SUMMARY This study has been carried out to determine the effective ness of nursing approach in alleviating the complaints of women during the perimenstrual stage. Through the aim, two groups have been selected out of 97 student in Florence Nightingale College of Nursing from those who have more perimenstrual complaints by `simple random method` and each student has been trained indi vidually by face to face conversation. The first group (39 students), were. training about progressive relaxation and diet methods while the second group (58 students) were learning exercise and using the diet methods. They all were asked to apply these methods in 3 cycles. Among them,' only 19 students from the first group and 21 from the second group have completed their relaxation-diet and exercise-diet methods respectively. The results were evaluated with `t` test and `Paired t` test. The findings were investigated from three different points. The first point, includes the information regarding the age and menstrual cycle features of the students and the second point includes the scores in the 8 sub-groups which are in `Menstrual Distress Questionnaire` before and after the training period, and the one point includes the data related with the comparisons in order to determine the effectiveness of the methods. It was observed that during the training period of the groups of students who took the relaxation -diet and exercise- diet meth-116 ods, the perimenstrual complaints showed a reasonable decrease. We couldn't found any difference when two groups were compared with each other from the point of effectiveness. Subsequently, in this study, it has been found that perimenstrual complaints were alleviated through the progressive relaxation, diet and exercise in nursing care field. The suggested methods in coping with perimenstrual complaints and the training programme were found succesfull, effective and important for the woman's health.
