The purpose of this investigation is to determine the treatment effect mechanism of the Nonextraction Edgewise Treatment Technique with CI II intermaxillary Elastics on the dentofacial system of Class II, Division 1 cases by comparing the changes in the treatment group with the spontaneous growth and development changes that occur in the control group with similar characteristics. The material of this investigation consisted of 96 lateral cephalograms taken from 48 cases, at the beginning and the end of treatment and control periods. The treatment group consisted of 24 individuals (12 girls, 12 boys) with a mean age of 12.67 years and skeletally 12.85 years at the beginning of treatment while the control group consisted of 24 individuals ( 12 girls, 12 boys ) with a mean age of 11.41 years and skeletally 11.95 years at the beginning of the control period. The mean treatment time in the treatment group is 1.01 years, the mean observation period in the control group is 1.03 years. In order to examine the changes that occurred during the treatment and the control periods, cephalometric analysis was carried out on lateral cephalograms. For this purpose, ten angular and seventeen linear parameters have been measured on each cephalogram. The measurements have been carried out in two groups, namely skeletal and dental; skeletal angular and skeletal linear measurements have also both been divided in two groups as sagittal and vertical. The measurements were evaluated statistically. The statistical significance of the changes in the prepost treatment and. pre-post control measurements has been determined by the Wilcoxon TestThe statistical significance of the differences between the treatment and control groups has been determined by the Mann-Whitney U Test. 73 SUMMARY The purpose of this investigation is to determine the treatment effect mechanism of the Nonextraction Edgewise Treatment Technique with CI II intermaxillary Elastics on the dentofacial system of Class II, Division 1 cases by comparing the changes in the treatment group with the spontaneous growth and development changes that occur in the control group with similar characteristics.
