Y Immunologic response was investigated in 20 patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by evaluating Immunglobulins and peripheric blood lymphocyte subpopulations. 10 age and sex matched healthy subjects comprised the control group. IgG and IgM levels were in normal limits, although statistically not significant IgA level was increased in COPD patients. Cytotoxic - supressor CD8 expression was increased significantly ( p<0.05). CD25 also increased significantly (p<0.01). CD4/CD8 ratio decreased remarkably( pO.OOl). In conclusin there was no significant change in humoral immunity of COPD in patients, but there were abnormalities of cellular immunity which may be associated with infection suspectibility in COPD patients. -30-en_US
