Bilim haberciliğinde gerçekliğin bozumu

Abstract

Bilim, özellikle temel bilimler bir toplumun tekâmülündeki en önemli yapıtaşlarından biridir. Bilimde geri kalmış ya da ürettiği bilimi toplumuna mal edememiş milletlerin uluslararası arenada söz hakları ya yoktur ya da çok kısıtlı kalmaktadır. Bilim gazeteciliği ise bilimsel çevreler ile toplum arasındaki temel iletişim köprüsü vazifesini görmektedir. Ancak Türkiye'de bu iletişim yok denecek kadar zayıftır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de ulusal yayın yapan temel gazetelerdeki bilim haberleri tespit edilerek, gerçekleştirilen içerik analiziyle içermeleri gereken bilimsel hakikatleri, gerek uzmanlık eksikliği gerekse satış kaygılı popülizm nedeniyle nasıl bozdukları ortaya konmuştur.

Science is the one of the important building blocks of a society's evolution and advancement. The nations who are scientifically underdeveloped or couldn't attribute the science it produced to its society cannot have a say or limited power in the international arena. Science journalism is the main communication bridge between the society and scientific communities. In this study it's shown that how integrity of the scientific facts in the science news gathered from main national newspapers in Turkey were disrupted due to the lack of expertise and the need to popularize them for profit by content analysis.
