dc.description.abstract1822-1884 yılları arasında yaşayan ve 19.yüzyıl Osmanlı tarihinde büyük izler bırakan Midhat Paşa, hayatının ilk dönemlerinde Dîvân-ı Hümâyûn ve Sadâret Mektûbî Odası'nda kitabet eğitimi almış, Şam, Sayda, Konya ve Kastamonu'da katiplik hizmetinde bulunmuştur. Meclis-i Vâlâ Başkatipliğine kadar yükselmiş, Şam'a, Rumeli'ye ve Bursa'ya geçici müfettişlik görevleriyle gönderilmiştir. 1861'de Niş valiliğine tayin edilen Midhat Paşa Tuna, Bağdat, Selanik, Suriye ve Aydın vilayetlerinde valilik yapmıştır. İkişer defa Sadrazamlık, Adliye Nâzırlığı ve Şûrâ-yı Devlet başkanlığı görevlerine getirilmiştir. Sultan V.Murad ve Sultan II. Abdülhamid'in tahta çıkarılmasında ve Meşrutiyet'in ilanında etkili olmuştur. Avrupa'ya sürülmesinin ardından Sultan Abdülaziz'in ölümüyle ilgili görülerek Yıldız Mahkemesi'nde yargılanmış, üç yıllık hapis hayatından sonra 1884'te Tâif'te vefat etmiştir. dc.description.abstractMidhat Pasha, who lived between 1822 and 1884 and left great marks in the 19th century Ottoman history, in his early career had literary composition training in the Imperial Council and the Scribal Office of the Grand Vizierate. Besides, he served as a scribe in Damascus, Sidon, Konya and Kastamonu. He was promoted to Chief Scribe of the Supreme Council of Judicial Ordinances, and then was sent to Damascus, Rumelia and Bursa as a temporary inspector. Midhat Pasha, who was appointed governor of Niš in 1861, also served as governor of Danube, Baghdad, Thessaloniki, Syria and Aydın provinces. He was appointed twice as Grand Vizier, Minister of Justice and Head of the Council of State. He was influential on the enthronement of Sultan V. Murad and Sultan II. Abdülhamid, as well as the declaration of the Constitution. After being exiled to Europe, he was put on trial at the Yıldız Court for he was held responsible of Sultan Abdulaziz's death.
