`Robin Hood` örneği üzerinden çeviri çocuk edebiyatında çevirmen ve yayınevi yaklaşımları

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığınca belirlenmiş İlköğretim 100 Temel Eser listesinde yer alan Howard Pyle'nin The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood of Great Renown in Nottinghamshire isimli eserinin Türkçeye altı farklı yayınevi tarafından yapılan çevirileri, yayınevi ve çevirmen yaklaşımları açısından incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, yayınevi ve çevirmenlerin kendi amaç ve ideolojileri doğrultusunda hedef kitlesi olan çocuğu idealize etmek için metne yapmış oldukları müdahaleleri ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda ilk olarak çocuk ve çocukluğun farklı disiplinlere göre tanımı yapılıp çocuk edebiyatının tarihsel gelişimi ele alınmakta ve sonrasında Türkiye'de çeviri çocuk edebiyatı alanında yapılan çalışmalara ve çocuk edebiyat eserlerindeki ideal çocuk figürünün temel özelliklerine odaklanılmaktadır. Çalışmanın bütüncesini oluşturan Robin Hood isimli kitap, 100 Temel Eser listesinde yer aldığı için çalışmanın bir bölümünde bu okuma listesinin sorunlu tarafları ortaya konmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, çeviri çocuk edebiyatında güç ve çeviri ilişkisi kapsamında yayınevi ve çevirmen faktörlerinin kendi ideolojileri doğrultusunda çeviri metinlerdeki müdahaleleri örnekler üzerinden incelenmektedir. This study investigates several translations of Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood of Great Renown in Nottinghamshire into Turkish commissioned by six different publishing houses, which are listed in 100 Essential Readings by the Ministry of National Education, with a special focus on the approaches of translators and publishing houses. The purpose of this study is to present the interventions of translators and publishing houses in the translated texts in order to idealize a child figure, which is the target audience, in line with their own aims and ideologies. Firstly, therefore, the concept of child and childhood is defined according to different disciplines, and the history of the development of children's literature is discussed. Afterwards, this study seeks to review the studies on the translation of children's literature in Turkey and fundamental characteristics of ideal child figure depicted in the children's literature. As the Turkish translations entitled Robin Hood is listed in 100 Essential Readings, in this study the problematic points of this reading list are also identified. In this study, the interventions of translators and publishing houses in the translated texts for their ideological purposes are analyzed with several examples within the context of the relation of power and translation in the translation of children's literature.
