Scots pine which occupies extensive ^e,eem*±n-!Evirope and northern Asia has a great economi c importance. Southern boundary of its geographical distribution lies in Turkey along Kayseri - Pxnarbasi direction at 38°ifi«N latitude. The Çatacak region on Sündiken mountains where the study area is Located (39°57'N latitude).may also be considered as one of the deepest boundaries down in the south in northern hemisphere, Scots pines in this region have narrow and conical crowns with tall and straight stems, and slender and handsome appearance having a good quality/ of wood. The study area was located on the northern slopes of the Sündiken mountains. Fairly deep and coarse textured soils which are generally deH'.V<&otd from the.v'^. metamorphic (micaschist)parent materials and have a good drainage characteristics through the soil profile, in this region.
