Kanunî`nin hayatındaki üç kadın: Hafsa Valide Sultan, Hürrem Sultan, Mihrimah Sultan

Abstract

Kanunî Sultan Süleyman?ın 46 yıl süren saltanatı, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu?nun en parlak, en güçlü ve en fazla belgelendirilmiş dönemini teşkil etmektedir.Muhteşem Süleyman?ın hayatında önemli yeri olan Hanım Sultanları, tarihin verileri ışığında tanımaya çalıştığımız tezimizde, dönemin olaylarını ve Hanım Sultanların bu olaylardaki yerini inceledik. Ayrıca bu olayların merkezinde yer alan ve en yakın dairede bulunan diğer önemli kişilerle, dönemin yaşantısını da kısaca tanıtmaya çalıştık. Sultanların evlenme biçimleri ve Harem hakkında kısa bilgiler verdik. Harem ve orada bulunan hanımların yaşantıları hakkında, milli ve dini geleneklerden ötürü fazla bir bilgi bulunmamaktadır. Oryantalistlerin bu konuda yazdıkları da genellikle art niyet, söylenti ve hayal gücünün ürünüdür. Bu sebeple Hanım Sultanlarla ilgili malumatı, kendi vakfiyelerinden, Saray kayıtlarından ve mektuplarından yola çıkarak ortaya koymaya çalıştık.Tezimizi dört bölümde ele aldık. Birinci bölümde Osmanlı?da Harem Hayatını, ikinci bölümde Kanunî Sultan Süleyman?ı, üçüncü bölümde Hafsa Valide, Hürrem ve Mihrimah Hanım Sultanları, dördüncü bölümde ise bunların yazmış olduğu mektupları inceledik.Anahtar Sözcükler: Kanunî Sultan Süleyman, Hafsa Valide Sultan, Hürrem Sultan, Mihrimah Sultan, Harem, Mektuplar

Suleiman the Magnificent?s 46 years of reign had been the brightest, the most powerful, the best certified and registrated period of the Ottoman Empire. In this study we have tried to recognize the Lady Sultans in the light of historical documents, we had a closer look to the events of the period and tried to undertstand the roles of the Lady Sultans in this period. Also, we have tried to identfy the statesmen at the center of these events and give some informations about them and the general life in Ottaman Palace in this period. In this context, we have given some informations about marrige forms of sultans and Harem life.Unfourtunately, there is not much more imformation about Harem and the ladies living there because of the national and religious traditions. What orientalists wrote about Harem is generally based on prejudices, wantonness, rumors and figment of imagination. Therefore, we have tried to gather as much information as possible about Lady Sultans from their own statutes, the palace?s documents and their letters. The thesis is divided into four parts. In the first part we shortly examined the life in Ottoman Harem. In the second part we summarized as much as possible the life of Suleiman the Magnificent and in the third part we gave some detailed information about three lady sultans, Hafsa Valide Sultan, Hurrem Sultan and Mihrimah Sultan.
