Coğrafya öğretmenlerinin etkili öğretim

Abstract

Bu araştırmada coğrafya öğretmenlerinin öğretim süreci içerisinde kullandıkları etkili öğretim stratejilerininin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma evrenini, Irak'ın Kerkük şehrinde görev yapmakta olan coğrafya öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda, 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim yılında basit tesadüfi (random) örnekleme yöntemiyle ulaşılan toplam 50 katılımcıya Etkili Öğretim Stratejileri Ölçeği uygulanmış ve dört katılımcı ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Eşzamanlı karma araştırma yöntemi ile desenlenen araştırma nicel verilerinin çözümlenmesinde SPSS 22.0 paket programı, nitel verilerinin çözümlenmesinde ise içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre coğrafya öğretmenlerinin etkili öğretim stratejilerini kullanım düzeylerine ilişkin algılarının yüksek olduğu ve katılımcı puanlarının bazı değişkenlere göre anlamlı bir biçimde farklılaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca yapılan görüşmeler katılımcıların etkili öğretim stratejilerinin ne anlama geldiğini bildiklerini, öğrenme öğrenme süreçlerinde öğrenciye nasıl etki edeceğinin farkında olduklarını, bu stratejileri bilinçli ve etkin bir şekilde derslerinde kullandıklarını ortaya koymuştur.

In this study, it was aimed to examine the effective teaching strategies used by geography teachers thoughout the teaching process. The universe of the research consisted of geography teachers working in Kirkuk province of Iraq. Beyond the research, the Effective Instructional Strategies Scale was administered to a total of 50 participants reached by simple random sampling method and semi-structured interviews were employed with four voluntary participants in 2016-2017 academic year. The SPSS 22.0 software package was used in quantitative data analysis while the content analysis method for the qualitative data of the research designed through the concurrent mixed methods. According to the research results, the geography teachers were found to have a high perception of the use of effective teaching strategies it was determined that the participants' scores differed significantly according to certain variables. Additionally, the interviews revealed that participants knew what `effective teaching strategies` mean, that they were aware of what kind of influences would they have upon students in the teaching-learning process, and that they exploited these strategies in their lessons consciously and efficiently.
