An Analysis and evaluation of quantitative approaches to project management and available software

Abstract

ÖZET Uygarlığın başlangıcından itibaren, Kuruluşlar ve Kişiler tarafından çeşitli projeler yapılmaKtadır. önceleri büyüK projelerin planlanmasının zor bir iş olduğu düşünülüyordu. Günümüzde CFM ve PERT gibi teKniKlerın ve bilgisayarların gelişmesiyle, büyüK projelerin planlanması ve Kontrolü olduKça Kolaylaştı. Son bir Kaç yıldır Kişisel bilgisayarlarda çalışan proje yönetimi paKet programlarının sayısında ve gücünde diKKate değer bir artış olduğu düşünülürse, bu KonudaKı bilgi biriKiminin öneminin Kavranması daha Kolay olacaKtır. Bu çalışmada Kuramsal ve genel bir değerlendirme yanında bazı bilinen proje yönetimi paKet programları incelenmiş ve birbirleriyle Karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu amaçlarla, bazı test problemleri oluşturulmuş ve eldeKi yazılımlar KullanılaraK bu problemler üzerinde çeşitli bilgisayar çıKtıları elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca paKet programlardan biri bir inşaat projesinde uygulanmıştır.

iv ABSTRACT Numerous projects have been performed by organizations and individuals since the beginning of civilization. In the past, the planning of large projects was considered to be a complex and difficult task. In today's world, however, with the development of computers and such techniques as CPM (Critical Path Method) and PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique), the planning and control of large projects became quite easy. If it is thought that, over the last few years, there has been a remarkable growth in the number and power of project management packages that run on personal computers, it is going to be easily conceived that the knowledge accumulation concerning the usage and application of these packages are essential and quite significant. In this study, in addition to a theoretical and general evaluation, some well-known project management packages are analysed and compared with one another. For these purposes, some test cases are developed and various computer runs are obtained using the available software on the test cases. Moreover, one of the packages is applied to a construction project.
