A Cost comparative study of using high-strength concret in columns

Abstract

ÖZET Bu çalışmada yüksek mukavemetli beton kullanımının binalardaki ekonomik avantajları araştırılmıştır. Çalış ma süresince ana taşıyıcı elemanlar olan kolonlar göz önünde tutulmuştur. Bu amaçla altı ayrı bina, üç ayrı beton sınıfına göre analiz edilmiş ve kolon kesit alanları ile çelik miktar ları hesaplanmıştır. Sonuçlar değişik açılardan karşılaş tırılmış ve kolon malzeme maliyetlerindeki değişimler grafiklerden gözlenmiştir. Binaların analizi için paket bilgisayar programları kullanılmış, aynı zamanda çelik miktarları ile çubuk çap sayıları için iki ayrı program geliştirilerek başarıyla uygul anmıştır.

iv ABSTRACT In this research, the economic advantages of using high-strength concrete in buildings are investigated. During the study only the col umns, whi ch are the main carrying members are taken into consideration. For this purpose, six different buildings are analysed according to three different concrete categories, their column cross sections and quantity of steel are calcu lated. The results are compared according to different aspects, also the variations of column costs, related to reinforcing steel and concrete, are observed from graphic outputs. For the analysis of the bui 1 di ngs, appl i cati on soft ware is used; whereas for computation of steel areas and number of steel bars, two separate computer programs were developed and applied successfully.
