dc.description.abstractÇalışmanın merkezinde mitoloji kavramına bağlı kalınarak oluşturulan yapay kutsallar doğrultusunda; insansı varlıklardan günümüz toplumlarına ilkel dünyanın klavuzları olan mitlerin hayatımızın her alanında işlev görmesi; bilim dünyasından, teknolojiye, tüketimden sıradan uğraşlara ve günlük alışkanlıklarımıza kadar uzanan bir sürecin işleyişi üzerine durulurken göstergebilimsel açıdan mit ve sinema ortaklığına yoğunlaşılmıştır.Bu bağlamda Nail Gaiman'ın kaleminden televizyon dünyasına aktarılan ''American Gods'', göstergebilimsel açıdan ele alınmıştır. ''İlkel'' diye adlandırılan insanların kadim tanrılarından çağcıl dünyanın modern tanrılarına uzanan süreçte; çalışmanın kavram çerçevesi için literatür taraması yapılmış, Husserl'in fenomelojik anlayışına bağlı kalınarak göstergebilimsel analiz noktasında Roland Barthes tarafından kavramlaştırılan düz anlam ile yan anlam ögelerine göre şekillendirilmiştir.
At the center of this study; Myths, which are the guidelines of primitive world from the pre-historic humans to present-day societies, being functioning in every area of our lives; a process from the scientific world to the technology; consumption to ordinary occupations and daily habits, is emphasized in accordance with the artificial sanctities that are created within the scope of the concept of mythology, while the mutual relationship of myth and cinema in terms of semiotics is also underlined. In this sense, Neil Gaiman's adapted television series ''American Gods'' is dealed in terms of semiotics. In the process from the ancient deities of these ''primitive'' people to modern world's modern deities; the literature review is made for framework of the study and Husserl's phenomenology is recontextualized in sense of Semiotic analysis regarding to Roland Barthes' terms of Denotation and Connotation.en_US
