Abstract
The main motivation behind this thesis is the idea that it is necessary to contemplate on the possible intellectual linkages between the theories of Theodor W. Adorno and Gilles Deleuze which both faced the similar criticisms of not being political. In the light of this idea, this thesis analyzes the relation between art and politics in the thoughts of Adorno and Deleuze from a comparative perspective. As a result of this analysis, this thesis aims to indicate that the notion of art is the moment consisting of resistance and creating in Adorno's and Deleuze's social and political perspectives. For this purpose, the first chapter of the thesis is reserved for the examination of the notion of society in the theories of these philosophers. In line with this, Adorno's concept of nonidentity and Deleuze's concept of minority, that compose the core elements of the route of this thesis, are examined in this chapter. Additionally, the chapter also focuses on philosophers' criticisms regarding modern society by emphasizing their mutual approaches, in the light of the concepts expressed. The second chapter investigates the political implications of the notion of society of these philosophers, by highlighting the similarities in their approaches. In the final chapter, the notion of art, which is the moment of philosophers' thoughts about the notion of society and its political implications, is investigated. The chapter also indicates the notion of art as the moment of creating and resistance as an original point in the thoughts of both philosophers.
