Kemal Tahir`in romanlarında tarih ve toplum

Abstract

ÖZET Türk roman ve düşünce geleneğinde önemli bir konuma sahip olan Kemal Tahir, romanlarıyla olduğu kadar fikirleriyle de son derece tartışma konusu olmuştur. Yazar, Osmanlı'nın kuruluş devrinden, Demokrat Parti yıllarına kadar Türk tarihinin tüm evrelerini ele almıştır. On iki yıl hapis yatan yazar, Anadolu insanını hapishanede tanımış ve romanlarına konu etmiştir. Ele aldığı konular arasında, Kurtuluş Savaşı yıllarında Türk toplumu, aydınlar, Serbest Parti dönemi, Abdülhamid devri toplumsal olayları, Atatürk devrimlerinin toplumdaki etkisi v.s. sayılabilir. Yazar, bir milletin tarihi bilinmedikçe, o millet üzerine roman yazılamayacağını savunur. Bu sebeple yazdığı bütün romanlarda tarih ve toplum iç içedir. Devlet Ana, Yorgun Savaşçı, Kurt Kanunu, Yol Ayrımı, Esir Şehrin İnsanları, Bir Mülkiyet Kalesi gibi ele aldığı tarih dilimi açısından önem taşıyan romanları yanında Anadolu insanının dramını ve hapisteki yaşamını anlattığı romanlar (Sağırdere, Körduman, Büyük Mal, Köyün Kamburu, v.s.) da önemlidir. Yakın tarihin siyasî olaylarını romancı gözüyle yorumlar. Doğu ve Batı toplumları arasındaki farklılıklar, aydın- halk kopukluğu, aydınların Batı'ya yaklaşım tarzları romanlarında eleştirilmiştir. Yazar, Türk tarihini, Osmanlı Devleti'nin kuruluşu, II.Abdülhamid devri, Kurtuluş Savaşı yıllan, Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllan, İsmet Paşa ve CHP devri olarak 5 dönemde ele alır. Bu devirlerdeki siyasî ve sosyal olayları değerlendirir. Doğu toplumlarının devlet ve ahlâk yapısı bakımından Batı'dan üstün olduğunu savunur. Osmanlı Devleti ve toplum düzenine hayranlık duyan yazar, tarihî ve sosyal konularla ilgili binlerce sayfalık not tutmuştur. Bu notları, tarih, toplum, siyaset, sanat ve roman metodu ile ilgili olup, ölümünden sonra 15 cilt halinde basılmıştır. Anadolu insanının tüm yaşantısını tarihî olayların etkilerine bağlı olarak ele aldığı için, onun romanlarında tarih ve toplumun özel bir yeri vardır. '

ABSTRACT Kemal Tahir, who has an important place in the tradition of Turkish Novel and thought, has been a subject of discussion both with his novels and ideas. The author dealt with the whole phases of the Turkish history from the foundation period of the Ottoman till the years of the Democrat Party. He spent his twelve years in prison and during this time he had the opportunity to Know Anatolian people and these people became the subject matter of his novels. Some of the topics that he handled are Turkish nation in The War of Independence (liberation), intellectuals, the period of Liberal Party, the social events of Abdülhamit Period and the effects of the revolutions of Atatürk on society. He defends the idea that it is impossible to write a novel about a nation unless its history is known. For this reason, history and society are intertwined in all the novels he wrote. Devlet Ana, Yorgun Savaşçı, Kurt Kanunu, Yol Ayrımı, Esir Şehrin İnsanları and Bir Mülkiyet Kalesi are some of his outstanding novels in terms of the period they reflect. Moreover, his novels (Sağırdere, Körduman, Büyük Mal, Köyün Kamburu, etc) in which he dealt with the tragedy, and the prison life of the Anatolian people are also important. He interprets the political events of our recent history as a novelist. The differences between the West and the East, the gap between the intellectual and the society, the West imitation of the intellectuals are criticized in his novels. He divides Turkish history into five periods the foundation of the Ottoman, the period of II. Abdülhamid, the years of The War of Independence, the early years of Turkish Republic, İsmet Paşa and CHP period. He appreciates the social and political events in these periods. He is for the idea that the Eastern societies are superior to the West in terms of governmental system and morality.
