Abstract
II the effects of water consumption estîmatîon ' methods on construction cost of large scale Irrigation projects ('A.Master's Thesis) Mustafa AKÇA GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY September 1989 ABSTRACT In this study, four irrigation projects have been selected in order to compare the effects of water consumption estimation methods on construction costs, In the M.Kemalpaşa irrigation project, five different methods of water comsimption are applied whereas in the other irrigation projects only four methods are employed. All the data have been taken from planning reports of the selected irrigation projects. The meteorological data needed in the study are obtained by taking the average values of the meteorological measurements which had been re corded for long time periods by the General Directorate of State Meteorological Organization, The calculations are carried aut by analytical methods. The main and secondary channels are designed several times according to the water consumption method under consideration and the total cost are calculated each time. After evaluation of all the intended methods, the total costs with the total irrigation areas are compared with eacah other to find which method gives the minimum cost. ît is shown that the minimum cost is obtained by the Christiansen-Hargreaves method for Seyhan t İğdır and M.Kemalpaşa irrigation projects while, for Söke irrigation project, the Jensen Haise method gives the best result.
