Abstract
Thesis) Zafer ÇAKMEN GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY June 2003 ABSTRACT The main factors that influence the atmospheric corrosion are; temperature, humidity, solid particules and composition of the atmospher. Although, the zinc is an active metal with the high electronegative potential, the zinc coatings can protect iron and steel against to the atmospheric corrosion. The main reason is that, the oxide film shows a protection property on metal surface. The aim of this study is investigating the resistance of zinc coatings that supplies the best and homogenuously distributed collision because of freezing of the zinc on the surface of material, against to the corrosive compounds catodically among different atmospheric mediums and under pollutants. In this study, the literature searching and examining in its place are used. As a result; in the resistance that the coating shows against to the atmospheric corrosion, variables of coating process, atmospheric conditions and the amount of the pollutants are the effects of the time that the coating stays in the corrosive medium.
