Abstract
In this study, a Thermoelectric Chimney System (TCS) which aims to generate electricity with thermoelectric generators by utilizing heat energy drawn from the bottom of the hermetic combi boiler and to meet the energy requirement of the energy produced by the thermoelectric generators, was designed and manufactured. Experiments were carried out with TCS in the position of using hot water for summer and in the position of hot water for both heating and use in winter. Experiments in the heater position were carried out by changing the temperature of the heating water between 35°C and 85 ° C at 5°C intervals between -20°C and 20°C outside temperatures. Experiments in the use water condition were carried out by changing the outside air temperature from -20°C to 35°C and the use water temperature from 35 ° C to 65°C at 5°C intervals. In the experiments carried out in the winter heating condition; minimum power outside temperature of 15°C and heating water temperature of 51°C at 35°C, maximum power at outside temperature of -15°C and heating water temperature of 18°C at 85°C were measured. Experiments carried out in the use water condition in winter; minimum power outside temperature of 15°C and operating water temperature of 35°C at 73.28 W and maximum power of 184.63 W at -15°C outside temperature and 65°C use water temperature. Experiments carried out in summer position water use; the minimum power was measured as 42.77 W at outdoor temperature of 30°C and the service water temperature of 35°C, while the maximum power was measured as 154.44 W at outdoor temperature of 15 ° C and the service water temperature of 65 ° C. In the experimental work, using TCS, the hermetic combi boiler produced an average of 3381.32 kW of electricity over its lifetime and 2769.3 kg of CO2 could be prevented from oscillating. The increase in the waste gas temperature and the increase in the amount of power obtained from the waste heat due to the decrease of the outside air temperature and the increase of the temperature of the heating and use water was obtained.
